Wouldn't he be just another 'cult' leader leading the ignorant and stupid away from society?

Blunt honesty.... is there any evidence of the miracles you talk about, other than them being written down in a book? I also read that Liz Hurley has had extensive boob surgery in OK magazine... should I believe that as it's written down?

For all I know, the guy at "Speakers Corner" could be a messiah?
What do I know? But I chose to ignore him. My choice!

Why do those that believe in the Messiah ridicule those that don't? And accuse them of blasphemy or something?

I too have heard and read of miracles, but never seen one! Has anyone? Do we follow like sheep because someone says "this is the Way"?

I'm afraid that I fall into the category of Doubting Thomas.

Well if we believe that story, didn't Jesus let Thomas put his hand into the wound in order to prove it?
Why doesn't he do the same for us? He did it for him!

The answer is no, he wouldn't, simply because cult leaders can't preform miracles as Jesus did, and most cults are designed to snare the most privelidged (and often rich) members of society- Jesus went and helped society's outcasts, such as the demon posessed, the leprosy sufferers and even the dead.
Simply, he would probably be hailed as a hero for this reason. Look at the work of Mother Teresa, who worked in the slums of Calcutta, kept going by her strict Catholic belief. It was this belief that earned her support and international fame. Similarly, if Jesus was to return, as I believe He will, then his work would equally be feted.
And there is no 'alledgedly' about His work- read the witness statement, the Bible.

You know, that's a great question! If Jesus came back now and did start preaching the way he did then, hopefully he'd have the good sense not to do it on a street corner standing on a soap box. He would just be another one of those crazy, poisoned pudding, crackpot cult leaders. He'd only be believed by maybe one out of a hundred people. If he did exist, I think he's probably got more sense than to come back now. It'd be pointless.

I think that if another Jesus like figure were around today he or she wouldn't necessarily be that, because 'Jesus' whoever he was tried to teach lessons of peace and respect between human beings, he didn't even call for the creating of a new religion in his name. If you read the bible with an open mind and try to strip away the specific personalities of its authors to get back to the basic Jesus stories behind, it is full of beauty and inspiration, not indoctrination or a call to war and repression. All religions should have their place with mutual respect and understanding... we're a long way from it unfortunately.

You mean exposing the hypocrisy of religious leaders, speaking out against hatred, violence and dishonesty. Giving sound advice, helping the ignored, oppressed and shunned, healing the sick. Explaining how to live a good moral life in clear understandable terms and leading by example.

Rather unlikely to just attract the "ignorant and stupid", "Cult" rather implies an excursionist faith, Jesus taught an inclusive faith, gathering in those abandoned or excluded by society. He'd end up in the public eye with more coverage than the Olympics and all the celebrities combined!

Why just beleive what is written? 'Be ye doers of the word' the word of God says. I know many people who have been 'miraculously' healed and delivered. It is no longer such an awesome thing for miracles and healing to happen. God still does them today. And not just for 'special people'.
Jesus Christ gave his life so that anyone who chooses could be saved (made whole) and could manifest the power of God in their lives.
Power to heal the sick, cast out devils, raise the dead, set men free of the slavery of God's enemy, the devil who is also the 'god' of this world.

1) He would probably be labelled a terrorist for fighting the Western influence in the middle east - just as he had done with the Romans when he was around centuries ago.

2) But as a Jew he would support Israel, but as a man who made freinds with outsiders he would probably make friends with Hezbollah too, so something, like he did with samaritans.

Its difficult and controvertial...I think I should stop there!

Times were different then. People needed something to believe in and they followed. Also, some say that there were several "miracles". Koresh never performed one.

Not if he could perform the same miracles. Cult leaders pretend to have supernatural knowledge or powers, but have never been able to demonstrate it. Jesus would.
