I just installed a new ceiling fan because my old one broke, the manual that came with the new one says not to use with a solid state speed control. How do I know if I have one? I didn't do any rewiring, just unhooked the hold one then reattached the wires on the new one and hung it on the ceiling. It makes noises when the fan is on, I don't know why.

I do not know anything about electrical work. The old fan and the new fan was/is connected to a wall switch that has two knobs you turn each knob to the right and it turns the fan on higher or turns the light on brighter. Is this what I need to change now, or am I better off calling an electrician?

The knob you turned to make the old fan go faster or slower is a speed control. If it doesn't have tubes, it's solid state. (I don't know where you would ever find one that isn't solid state.) This is what the manual is telling you not to use. Replace it with what ever the manual recommends.

Adding an SSD increases your performance by at least 30%. The reasons for this are very detailed and goes on to electron flow but you wouldn't care for that. It speeds it up because Hard dives scatter files all over the disc, meaning that when the computer tries to access a certain file, it has to go around many other files to reach it. You can choose to defragment your current hard drive if you choose to, but it takes time. An SSD automatically does this, and defragmenting is unnecessary. SSD's are expensive though, and even though it is worth it's price, it's going to cost a lot for a large amount of GB. If I were you, unless you actually need the speed, I would recommend you back up important files, and reset or defragment and clean all junk files using a tuneup utility.

Solids control is a technique used in drilling rig to separate the solids in the drilling fluids that are crushed by the drill bits and carried out of the well surface. Normally solid control system is consist of five stages, including mud tank, shale shaker, vacuum degasser, desander, desilter, centrifuge. Shale shaker is used to separate the big solids with diameter above 75μm, and 45~74μm for desander, and 15~44μm for desilter. Sometimes desander & desilter are combined as high efficient mud cleaner. When air enters into the drilling fluids, vacuum degasser is used to separate the air. If no air in the mud, the degasser would work as a big agitator. All these equipments are mounted on the top of the mud tank. After separating the solids, the clean mud would be pumped into the borehole again.

Most quality ceiling fans are operated by a certain type of electrical control system called capacitors. Capacitor electronics in ceiling fans create distinct speed "steps" like high, medium, and low. Capacitors control the fan speed in a way that does not produce a hum. Variable fan speed controls, which create a speed control "range" from low to high, are operated by solid state electronics. Variable controls can create a hum because they control the fan's speed in a different manner. For quiet fan operation, capacitor type fan controls are recommended for most ceiling fan installations.

you need differnt speed controls

solid state means all electronic: no moving or mechanical parts in the assembly.
