Yes. If you make a claim against your comprehensive or collision it is subject to the deductible. If your insurance company recovers from the other person (not sure if that's likely or if you even have info on the other person) then you should get your deductible back when they get their money back. Otherwise, you chose your deductible which applies regardless of fault. You can always check your policy to see if this is a circumstance where the deductible will be waived, but I say it's not likely.

The laws vary from country to country, but generally speaking you would have to be able to identify the other vehicle so the Police could include that information in a report for you, which you can then put in with your insurance claim. That will give you a chance of having your insurance company recover the costs from the other vehicle's insurance or the owner/driver.
The best thing is to check with your insurance company. You have to claim anyway, by the sounds of it, so see what they say. This sort of thing happens every day so give them a try.

That's why it's a deductible...it's how your insurance rates are calculated. If you have the trailer owner's information, you should put the claim thru on his insurance first, with your insurance going in second.

You should have got his license plate or truck number and called his company to pay for it. Depending on your coverage you may have to pay your deductible. Call your agent.

As long as you have their license plate #, the date, time, exact location ect. you need to contact them directly. dont call your insurance company and submitt a claim. That company should pay for the whole thing out of pocket. i did that when my windshield got hit by a rock.

Do you have the tag of the other car? If not, then pay it if you want it fixed.
