How come some people barely get sick if for example they get different amounts of sleep each night (sometimes not enough), eat tons of junk food, or just don't have the best lifestyle? Some people take really good care of themselves yet these ppl can still get sick.

Different people have different physical, chemical, and emotional constitutions. What affects some people greatly doesn't affect other people. Some people are highly sensitive to stress, allergies, changes in blood sugar, and nutritional components while others aren't so affected. All of these things can affect people's immune systems as well. It seems unfair sometimes, but if you notice yourself getting sick a lot you're probably under a considerable amount of stress. You might not even realize it until you get sick, which kinda sucks. Also, people have very different needs for sleep, and even the same person's need can change over time. Almost everyone needs at least 6 hours every night, and most need more, 7-9.

Over cleanliness at a young age can inhibit the growth of a healthy immune system. Mothers who continually wash and keep their children clean are really doing them a disservice. I am not talking about filth but good old fashioned mud and clean dirt. When we were young, whenever a neighbours children had measles, mumps, colds etc., we were all sent into that child's bedroom to play for a day or two so that we could catch the disease/sickness. Thankfully we all grew up healthy and now at 65 I can play (and walk) five games of golf a week, summer and winter. I seldom if ever get a sore throat or cold and feel as healthy as I did when I was 35. Let the children muck about once in a while and don't be in too much of a hurry to clean them up or dry them off..............

It's mostly down to your immune system, but also I think sometimes about your mindset. I don't take great care of myself... I work loads, eat badly, etc but I hardly ever get sick. I've not had a sick day from work for about 7 years except for one where I was sent home...I was too stubborn to admit to being sick, and I think that's a lot to do with it. Some people go sick with a cold and make a big thing out of it, whereas some people would carry on with the flu.

Not that I ever get the flu of course ;o)

Maybe it depends on what they are exposed to, I heard cancer could even be passed by viruses (but I couldn't prove it)!
