I only want to hear from people who actually tried not to gain over twenty five pounds in their pregnancy. I don't want a lecture on physical activity and diet since I know this to be true and effective. What I would like to know is if you did anything special besides activity/diet to keep your pregnancy weight gain at bay. Examples: drink a gallon of water a day, weigh your food, don't eat after 6 PM, light weight training. Doing a study. Thanks for all your help. Oh, can you include weight and age?

Okay, just to clarify, I was told in my last pregnancy to only gain 25 pounds because I started out at about 150lbs. I ended up gaining 55. OOOOPPS! Anyway, I ended up losing that pregnancy weight, but this time when I'm pregnant, I really want to respect her wishes so I don't have all the problems I had with the last baby. So there-to those who admonished me for only caring about my looks. Some of you have nothing better to do than be bitter, mean people. I am asking for legitimate help...thanks to those who actually offered it! I appreciate those of who who actually read my question!

ok you want honesty on this.. here ya go. just eat as much as you normally do before you were pregnant. i did and i gained 15-20 lbs for each (3) baby. the doctor wanted more weight on me and i said i was fine.. my first kid (25) was 7.5. second (28) 7.13 and third (30) 8.5. they all were very healthy and i just did normal activities and such. so dont listen to all the bull magazines and people say.. do what your heart and baby asks for. if you crave than eat it.. but dont over eat it... example i craved chocolate bad. so every day i measured 3/4 cup of M&M's and i munched that amount thoughout the day.. and only that amount. it quenched my cravings big time. good luck

I don't know of anything you can do to stay at 25 lb. or less, aside from starving yourself. I don't think this is recommended since you would have a sickly baby.

If your doctor (or whatever genius told you to gain this much) is so wonderful, why not go ask him/her? 25 - 35 is optimal, but you know what--I gained 80 with the first one and 45 with the second one, ate light a friggin' pig (albeit *most* of it was healthy-ish food), and lost all but 10 lb. both times. I was slightly underweight when I became pregnant, so it worked for me.

All women are different, and unless you have a serious or life-threatening medical condition that would kill you or cause you to become parapalegic if you gained more than 25 lb., I'd say eat what you want. You should never deny yourself food during pregnancy. If you crave hamburgers, it's probably because you've got a protein or iron deficiency. If you crave bananas or orange juice, it's because your body is telling you to bone up on the folate or potassium. If, however, you crave Snickers icrecream bars, it's best to limit those. I've never heard of anyone having a caramel or peanut deficiency, LOL. Just try to eat healthy and don't deny your body what it wants/needs. You DO want a healthy baby, don't you?

Well, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few months ago and had to go on a low-carbohydrate diet. Ever since then I've either maintained or lost a little weight here and there, without exercise mind you.

So far I've only gained 15 pounds with this pregnancy and I'm 37 weeks and 3 days along.

After the baby is born I'm definately going to be sticking to it, even if the diabetes is gone, with a little cheating now and then of course ;-)

So, just basically watch your carbs, if you want more info or detail, do a search for "diabetic diet" you could probably find a lot more on it.

I gained 17lbs. My son was 7lbs 12oz. when he was born and the other 10lbs. was water I think. I was 24 when he was born, and all I did was drink water constantly, cut my salt(by not adding any table salt to my food), and pretty much ate whatever else I wanted. I did drink coffee every morning, and no it wasn't decaff. I constanly snacked at night. And also had 3 meals during the day. I really just enjoyed being pregnant. Enjoyed every craving to it's fullest! The doctors were actually concered about me to start with because I was overweight, but boy did I show them! They gave me a lecture about diet, and not eating too much food. I did the opposite of what they wanted. I ate more than ever! They also took pictures of the umblical cord because they wanted to use it for a lecture of how strong the cord should be! And I only gained the weight of my son and some water. After he was born I lost 17lbs!!! I think drinking the water everyday really helped me. But I love water! Oh and Ho Ho's......those helped ;)

I ate better meaning regular meals but not outrageously healthy. And stayed at work until about 5 days before baby but I also have a very active job and normally drink plenty of water. Just don't give up your normal habits. Try to take walks don't use baby as an excuse to eat the whole cake. I was 23 and only gained about 27lbs and lost 30 within one week of the delivery.

Hahaha. I only know one person who ever stayed under 30 lb weight gain, and she has a med condition where she can't gain weight no matter how hard she tries.

I only gained 35 lbs with my second baby. I worked out daily with the tv exercise program "Sit and Be Fit", an exercise program designed for older people. The exercises are done either sitting, or holding onto a chair, so I didn't risk tipping over, and they arn't strenuous, so I didn't risk repeating the early labor and subsequent bedrest of my first pregnancy.

Hope it helps. And FYI: pregnant women should never go more than 8 hours without eating. The body thinks it's starving, and may compromise the pregnancy.

Seeing the form you're already 25 weeks you will in all probability positioned on an outstanding variety of weight no count number what. I ate notwithstanding I craved (chocolate & ice cream) in my 1st being pregnant and that i gained 50 pounds! yet I lost all of it at last after toddler, so do no longer worry too a lot with reference to the toddler weight. With my contemporary being pregnant (toddler #2) i'm additionally 25 weeks and have gained approximately 20 pounds as much as now. yet now which you're entering the third trimester (whilst toddler packs on the pounds) you will in all probability benefit extra weight now than ever. you won't have the ability to truly help it. Your physique is going to attempt to hold onto each and every calorie. It comes off however after toddler. do no longer tension approximately it. :-)

I only gained 30 pounds...
I was 24 at the time and weighed 117.

But I ate Taco Bueno EVERYDAY ALMOST! and if not that Taco Cabana! I did limit my cokes as it gave me stomach aches...

and basically I ate what I wanted, I think it has to do with your genes. My mom was the same way.
Now I am 26 and I weigh 130-shame on me!

I still call it my baby weight! Is that allowed! ha ha

Over thirty year ago, my wife decided that she was not going to gain a lot of weight during pregnancy. Our son was born handicap. So if your look are more important than the health of your child, why even get pregnant?
