I'm told I need to eat 1,200 calories or LESS to lose weight. I’m trying the "grazing method" to increase my metabolism (something I sorely need).

I'm up at 6AM to exercise
I eat an apple (aprox 80 cal)

8:30 Breakfast: Cereal w/ milk (250) or slimfast drink (aprox 200)

1PMLunch (? kinda whatever I want - could be a gazillion calories for all I know)

2:30- 3:30 Snack: lowfat pretzels, health bar: 150 cal or less

Okay here is the real problem..when on earth do I have dinner? I go to the gym right after work so I don’t slack off and just not go. I get there at 6 from work. I'm there for an hour and a half and don’t get home till nearly 8. That’s a long spell of not eating (blow 1) and then I'm going to want a huge dinner, which is another blow to the whole "grazing philosophy. Help me plan the rest of my day.

Desert: 80 – 120 Cals

And another thing.. lets say I have 650 cals left after breakfast and snacks. I have to divide that between Lunch AND Dinner!? HELP!

I've always been told not to eat after 7:00 p.m. What will really help you better than counting calories is to avoid sugar, don't eat white potatoes, white rice or anything made with white flour. Go to whole grains. Keep bread and cereal down to a minimum. Eat more lean meat baked, broiled, grilled but not fried. Eat nothing fried. Eat lots of vegetables, a little fruit (fruit has lots of sugar). Avoid juice. It's pure sugar. Don't have more than two caffeinated drinks a day. If you do this, you'll be eating healthy and losing weight.

Sounds like you are really trying. Good for you. A lot of grocery stores have ready made salads that taste great. It would be something that is quick, easy and low calorie. You could pick a couple up and put them in your fridge so they are there and ready to eat as soon as you get home. Could also drive thru Wendy's or something to get a salad but use your own dressing.

The place where I shop also has great fruit bowls--all cut and ready to eat. Its a little more expensive but worth the convienence.

Good luck.

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. I'm not a big fan on diets because I just think its a trend. So this is what works for most people in my opinion. First of all its all about PORTION SIZE most restaurants are over feeding customers because they want more bang for there buck. Also exercise about 3 times a week and drink PLENTY of water.

Wow!!!!! That's great. Just eat a bowl of cereal for dinner. Everything else your doing is right. Cut down on your lunch just a tad. though. Eat 6 little meals a day. That works for me.
