I can see the effect of wind, rain, hurricanes etc. But can someone prove the existence of a God?

There are two really good ways for people in power to get the masses to behave the way they want:
1) Threaten to kill/maim them
2) Convince them that some supernatural power will do something terrible to them if they don't cooperate.
#2 is simply less messy and less expensive than #1, though #1 is still very popular...

No, He isn't a figment of the imagination. In our physical realm of existence, He is invisible but very present.
He could have chosen to make His existence known to all the world by signs and wonders (indeed He has revealed Himself in physical ways to some) but God puts a high premium on faith. He respects those who accept Him even though they don't see Him.
Jesus wanted Thomas to believe He had risen before he saw him for himself.
Humans want to believe in something they can touch and for the longest time they have created idols just so they can have something to hold on to.
But God rewards faith. At the end of days He will reward all who believe in Him.
For me, the most interesting part is His unconditional love. He accepts you as you are and makes you into the best you can be.xxx

No. God was never created. He has always been and will always be. How can we convince that the wind exists. We convince by showing the effects of the wind as well as the effects of God's existence.

Although, I do not regularly attending religious services, I am believer in God and there are times when I feel a higher presence. God was not created by others. Rather God is the CREATOR of ALL.

I believe that God is something created to not only keep people in check but also to help people explain and come to terms with thier own deaths and make it more comforting. I was raised a Catholic and can not folow it anymore... I don't think that anyone can change my mind.

yes. I've seen a documentary on discovery with , I can say almost believable facts that Jesus was actually a good politician. And if you look for clues you'll find them. Depends on what you want to believe.
I should add that I don't believe in God.

At first, religion was created to answer the age-old question of why we are here on this earth.
Then, it turned into a way for leaders to control the masses.

i have a story that applies to your question.... once their was a powerful wizard who lived deep in the woods... he kept a large flock of sheep for sustinence... every day he would slaughter a sheep for breakfast one for lunch and another for dinner... well the sheep started to realize what their fate was and they plotted to escape and did so on a regular basis... the wizard growing tired of rounding up his sheep so devised a clever plan... he cast a spell on the sheep to make them think they were anything but sheep! they would be lions, cows or even people... but only in their minds... and they had no reason to flee from the wizard because they were not sheep and he only ate sheep... and so thusly they lived their lives out without rebellion with out knowledge of their true selfs untill the day came when they were plucked from the flock to be eaten as a meal... but i guess my awnser is, no God is not a tool used to keep us in check but organized religion is just that.

When you do something wrong, even if you feel justified, do you try to hide the fact? Thats God! No one can really keep you in check. You're free to do as you want, think as you want. However, there are repercussions. No one ever tries to argue that its OK to steal, kill, rape, swindel, lie, cheat, etc. They do try to cover their deeds because they know its wrong. God is inside you, as your conscience. You cannot escape from His sight!
