I wish I had a job that was fun but I don't and probably never will. Oh well. Like you, I work to put food on the table and that is all. I do my best but when I leave work I leave everything. I DO NOT take work home with me. My priorities are God, wife, children, me, job.

I think some people are just born into a temperament that suits society's view on life. I enjoy working, working makes me smarter and better at what I do. To me, working is a everyday challenge that needs to be overcome.
However, if you have a degree in finance and wish not to make use of it, then why did you pursue that degree in the first place? Why not focus on being a minister or open a daycare center?
To me, living a simple life needs simple values. The BEST THINGS IN LIFE is FREE. Have you ever been poor or have no money to do the things you like? Think back to the time when you were young with your boyfriend, having no money to do most things, you spent most of the time mainly goofing off, right? Well, I bet the moments you spent with him is the most cherish moments. Being that now you have money, you still can't buy such happiness.

When you finish school, get a job as bank branch staffer (teller, loan officer), and enjoy the fact that you can see the results of your efforts to help people on a case-by-case basis.
I have a degree in Poli Sci, and decided to keep working retail b/c I enjoyed the flexible hrs, working face-to-face with my clients, and going home everyday w/out worrying about what would happen tomorrow. I ended up quitting work permanently b/c I have Bipolar Disorder, and the promotion I got pushed me over the edge...
Keep your work life simple and your home life fulfilling. Leave the 80 hr weeks to the greedy money-grubbers and the people who (economically) have no choice...

Been there, done that, not worth it! Work is a means to afford the necessities for a whole and healthy life. Life is not a means to work. You have a good philosophy, and as with all ways worth sustaining, it will take work at times to stay in touch with the values you hold most dearly. Good luck!

Education is key-unless you want to bust your@$$ doing 60 hrs a week and not see your family or frieds or anything you enjoy. Money is not everything-I wish you luck and hope you keep up your theory. Life is not all work you have to play a little-I hope you are spredding your theory around.
