Need more details e.g. engine size and code , number of valves etc to give a correct answer add details and i might be able to help

Look on top of the gearbox you will see a plastic grommet , pop off the grommet and with a torch look inside where the grommet was and you will be able to see the fly wheel, this will have a mark on it , and there is also a mark on the bell housing witch can also be seen from this same place where the grommet was .........

There are not any timing marks on modern cars. You have a sensor on gearbox bellhousing that picks up magnetic pulses from the flywheel, what are you trying to do ?

the 16 valve engines have locking tools to time them, the 8 valves ive done have no visible marks!!

There are marks on cam shaft pully & the crank shaft pully.

the timing makes are......on the camshaft 1 dot at 12 o clock...on the crankshaft..1 dot at 6 o clock aline these dots up together then you will have top dead centre....
