yes it is
here is what is in it
Ingredients:
3/4 cup long-grain rice -- raw
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs -- lightly beaten
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup golden raisins
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup sugar
whipped cream
2 teaspoons lemon peel -- grated
2 teaspoons orange peel -- grated
Instructions:
Prepare the rice in 1 1/2 cups of water according to package directions.
Meanwhile heat the oven to 350 degree F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish. In a large bowl combine the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, grated peels, vanilla, and salt beating until well blended.
Stir the raisins into the rice and spoon the rice mixture into the prepared baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over the rice and sprinkle with the cinnamon.
Place the baking dish in the oven in a larger baking pan filled with enough hot water to come halfway up the sides of the baking dish. Bake for 45 minutes until pudding is almost set, stirring once after 10 minutes and again 15 minutes later.
Remove the baking dish from the larger pan and cool on a wire rack, cooling until cold. Refrigerate, covered, at least 3 hours or overnight until the pudding is firm. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.

Yes, yes it is. Here's a yummy recipe.
3/4 cup raw short-grain rice (such as Arborio), rinsed in a colander until the water runs clear
4 cups milk
1/4 cup diced dried apricots
1/4 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and scraped
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
1/2 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
In a covered heavy saucepan, bring the rice, milk, apricots, vanilla scrapings, and lemon zest to a simmer over medium heat. Immediately reduce the heat to as low as possible, cover tightly, and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the rice is very tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Turn off the heat.
Stir the sugar into the cooked rice mixture. Stir in the egg yolks. Pour the rice pudding into a greased baking dish and bake for 20 minutes until slightly browned on the top. Remove from the oven and let cool. Chill until ready to serve.

Grease dish big enough to hold the amount of rice you require see pack for quantities per person. Grease an oven proof dish put in rice & water to cover. Cook in hot oven for 20mins. Then add can of evap milk & sugar to taste. Back into oven for about 1 hr. Top should go nice & brown there will be a fight for it.

Here in the UK it is made from rice but in South Africa they also make rice pudding but with something called sago that you put in milk for a couple of ours and then add sugar, cream, eggs and let it bake in the oven serving it with syrup when it's still warm.

Yes indeed. It has cooked rice in it with pudding. I usually add cinnamon to my rice pudding, the flavor isn't so dull that way.
