No, it's an urban myth, started by, I believe, Victor Lewis Smith. There was a master mate, and it kind of developed from here. At the time the story first went around, the series wasn't out on video, dvd wasn't around, and the series wasn't being repeated, so it was a bit difficult for anyone to disprove. Also, it would have been so great if it was true, that people really wanted to believe it. (A bit like the story that Bob Holness played sax on Baker Street, which also isn't true!)

Yes!! In the original versions when I was a lad. It was later taken out as someone must have realised the problem. I had the actual doll of him when I was a wee lad my mum kept trying to wash him for some reason???
