Yes. We know because He promised us.
John chapter 14
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
...if [it were] not [so], I would have told you....

Well, I believe that because of the 1st law of thermodynamics, nothing is created and nothing is destroyed. Energy changes quality, but not quantity. So, that being said, and the fact that we really no nothing of this life let alone a next life, i believe what a smarter person than I believes:
If i owned a BMW, and had problems with the car, my best bet would be to take it to the engineer of the car. He would know exactly what was wrong, and fix it for me. Well, there was a problem that man had, and it was that we had sinned. So God, knowing all about our problem, came down to earth as a man named Jesus and after some awesome miracles, he was put to death, and took the punishment that we deserved. And after 3 days, rose again from the dead to show us that there was life after death through him. Since He engineered this life, I would suggest going to Him and asking Him about it... We're just the window washers.
It's called Faith, based on actual events. Since we weren't there, we go by what the writers have written. The same as we do any other historical person whether, Alexander the Great, George Washington, or Ghangis Khan. The historical evidence is overwhelming. My faith is that I believe what Jesus has said; I believe in His Word.
I certainly don't believe "Danny". ;)

The truth of God's word (the Holy Bible) is recognized as truth by those who obey it. That is to say, those who do what it commands can say from experience that it's teachings bring truth and light and blessing to those that are aligned with it's teachings.
Nearly all of the people that refute what it says, do so because they refuse to submit themselves to God's authority in their lives. This is a spiritual matter as much as a "head" or cognitive matter.
If what the Bible says is true, then it is truly the Word of God, and all of it must be accepted as such, even if we don't always understand it. We can know that it is true - because by obeying it, it "bears good fruit" in our lives.
We can know that there is a heaven and a hell and an "after life" because this is what the Bible teaches. We can not know anything about Jesus Christ or God apart from what the Bible tells us. That's why it's authenticity as the word of the Living God (the one that truly exists) is so important. That's why so many people on this site would love to discredit it, but they never can successfully.
"The proof is in the pudding."

Because Jesus promised it , that should be enough . He went to prepare a place for all who follow Him . In His Fathers house there are many mansions . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved . If you do believe in Him you should not doubt His power , He doesn't break promises . God bless you and enlighten you through His Word . Mark 11:22-24 , Philippians 4:13 , John 14:1-6

As Stephen was being bitten by the unbelieving mob he cried out, " Behold I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God."

God created us to live in a perfect paradise on earth - the garden of eden. He didn't create us with the intention of us having to die. Someday soon the bible says he will restore man to their perfect condition. There are many scriptural references to this.

I am convinced there is life after death for one reason: Jesus Christ died and was placed in a tomb—and three days later came back to life.
Think about it a moment: What would it take to prove to us that there is life after death? The answer is clear: Someone would have to die, and then come back to life again. It wouldn't be enough for them to have a so-called "near-death" experience; their death would have to be real. And it wouldn't be enough for only one or two people to see them; it would require many witnesses.
But has this ever happened? Yes—when Jesus Christ rose from the grave! His death was real; hard-bitten Roman guards made sure He was dead before they took Him down from the cross. And His resurrection was real also, because hundreds saw Him during the next forty days. Paul, writing over 25 years later, noted that "he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living" (1 Corinthians 15:6).
How could this happen? It happened because Jesus Christ was not just another man. He was God's only Son, sent from heaven to save us from our sins. Only He could say, "I am the resurrection and the life. ... Whoever lives and believes in me will never die" (John 11:25-26). This can be your hope, by giving your life to Christ today.
Heaven for the Christian will be a place of glorious life that will never end. Joy inexpressible, limitless peace, pure love, beauty beyond description—that's what heaven is. Greatest of all will be the presence of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, with whom we will enjoy fellowship forever. Loved ones who have known and loved the Lord will be there. Revelation 21:2 says, "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."
Heaven will be a place in which its inhabitants will be freed from the fears and insecurities that plague and haunt us in the present life. No energy crisis there ... Free from the economic and financial pressures that burden us down here. Free from the fear of personal and physical harm ... No fear of personal failure ... Our relationship with Him will be intimate and direct. I'm looking forward to that glorious day of going to heaven.
"Heaven will be what we have always longed for. It will be the new social order that men dream of. All the things that have made earth unlovely and tragic will be absent in heaven. There will be no night, no death, no disease, no sorrow, no tears, no ignorance, no disappointment, no war. It will be filled with happiness, worship, love, perfection and other good qualities. Heaven will be a place to challenge the creative genius of the unfettered mind of redeemed man." Revelation 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
However, the Bible makes clear that there is only one way to heaven, and that is through repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ who said, "I am the way ..." (John 14:6). Jesus paid for our sins through His death on the cross. God offers us the free gift of friendship with Him in this life and eternal life in heaven when we die if we will but turn from sin and trust in Jesus as our Savior and Lord. "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved ..." (Acts 16:30).
Not one word in the Bible suggests that hell is a pleasant place, or a place where anyone would ever want to go. Jesus called hell a place of "outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 25:30, KJV). In one of His parables, Jesus told of a man who was in hell, begging for someone to come and "cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire" (Luke 16:24). The only companions anyone will have in hell will be "the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41).
There is much we don't know about hell—but we know all we need to know. And the most important thing we know about hell is that we don't have to go there! Yes, we have sinned, and we deserve only God's judgment. But God loves us, and Christ came to deliver us from hell and welcome us into heaven forever.
Don't take hell lightly—but don't take Christ lightly, either. Instead, by a simple prayer of faith ask Him to forgive your sins and come into your life today. The Bible's promise is true: "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1).
