Christianity as a religion has no more rules than any other religion. Religion in general is a means of controlling the masses. It can be a good and a bad thing. Since the beginning of time, religion was used by would be rulers to keep people under control. There usually was a cooperation between the laity and the secular to share power. The secular said, "If you go against the word of God(my word), you will burn in hell". This served to keep people from uprising and overthrowing the government. It was a good thing because without it, chaos would prevail. At least people learned some morality from it. Thou shall not kill, steal, etc, certainly good values. It could also be a bad thing. It put everyone in the same boat so to speak. It stifled free thought and without that, we would not progress to the point where we are today. The great thinkers were those who rebelled against control, often at the cost of their lives. In religions today, free thinking is discouraged to a point and in others, can still bring a death sentence. Rules keep the world in a more or less stable condition.

The "rules" are so that everyone can love God and each other. Try to imagine just for a moment what it could be like if everyone were actually kind to each other. The mind boggles, doesn't it? Just think if people weren't so greedy or jealous over anothers possessions or whatever it may be and didn't steal from someone, or didn't hurt or kill someone in anger or for any other reason. The times have gotten so bad now that it's common for someone to be killed for a few dollars and it's no big deal to the persan doing the killing. The rules, if followed would allow peace and harmony between all people.

Good question, Christianity, like most structured religions has a lot of base rules, there are only ten commandments though, and seven deadly sins, but since Jesus died to save us from our sins, then we will not Die if we have found faith in Christ.
I think a lot of the "RULES" people are told about are how THEY interprate the bible, God just wants you to love and worship him, and love others, I think everyone is going to interprate the bible they way they will, and not push it on others, no wonder a lot of the world hates us if we continue to gripe about which domination or sect of christianity is right or wronge, guess what, we are all right as long as we belive in christ...
well sorry got a bit off track the thing is we dont have that many actual rules according to the bible, just the ten commandments as moses laid them out for us.

Christianity is not about rules, but freedom in Christ. This isn't freedom we can abuse but freedom from the constraints and forces of this world and our base instincts, and also freedom from the Old Testament/Mosaic Law, Torah, whatever. Very few seem to understand this.
The freedom comes from and is only made possible by the Holy Spirit living inside you. This way you WANT to do what He wants and it's a joy to do it. You will automatically follow the "rules" without thinking about it.
Read the book of Galatians.

According to Christ there are only two rules. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. These are two rules that are easy to learn and easy to abide by. Humans made up all the other rules that people associate with Christianity.

Jesus said that all the law and the prophets hinged upon two, count them, TWO commandments:
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.
And the second is like unto it:
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself!
In other words,
Jesus
Others
You
what a wonderful way to spell J-O-Y!
Once you know Jesus as Lord and Saviour there are no "rules", you want to live a life that is pleasing to the one who ransomed your soul from Hell!

thats how thier religion was made. it has all those rules so they can be in control.
they think they are right about everything because usually thats all they know. they grew up their whole life surrounded by christian law and it was bashed into their heads. Thus they think everything is true about it.
truely, they do not know what exactly they are deeming as false, (most of them have never studied another religion). by not knowing what is false they cannot know what is true, for they have nothing to compare it to.

OK. Let's just work on two.
Matthew 22
36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

People need to feel a purpose for their existence. They also need to be guaranteed ever lasting life after they die, because death scares them. So they create these gay little religions that make them feel like they're God's best friend so they can live forever or whatever. That's it in a nutshell.
