before people come on here and ridicule people who speak in tongues, you realize if you know a different language, you can speak in tongues? the point of speaking in tongues is to be able to reach others that can't speak your language, to spread the Message in the bible. Do you know what the day of Pentecost was? google.

Definitely languages with the purpose of sharing the gospel.

I personally think the gibberish thing is kind of scary.

Speaking in tongues is one of the gifts bestowed by the Holy Spirit, a Heavenly language given to those who believe. It does not mean "jibberish" in any sense of the word.

I think it is ridiculous, think about it. There is this wonderful message that god wants us to hear and yet he sends it to someone and has them speak this wonderful message in a language we don't understand. Makes no sense whatever. Speaking in tongues is a con....total bs.

I'm familiar with the Pentecost story, which is why I crack up when I hear about people babbling incoherently and calling it a miracle.

The story would involve them speaking a completely new language out of nowhere, with no prior knowledge of the language.

It is mumbo jumbo, people in an emotional state trying to get God to enter their bodies. The link below has audio and video documentation of the jibberish from church services.

Languages . Tongues are for a sign to the unbelievers not to be done unless there is an interpreter present or to edify the Church .

I know what the Day of Pentecost was. do you?

I hardly rely on Google, for my Godly wisdom.

However.....Which "tongue" are you referring too?

There were 6 different types.

"tongues".."known tongues".."unknown tongues".."other tongues".."spoken tongues".."unspoken tongues".

If you don't have a Greek concordance, you can't know which "tongue" it is talking about in the verses they are mentioned.

I see it as nonverbal communications...sort of like telepathy with experience transfer with intent of knowing
