Show up some time, give him a punch in the face and we'll see how quickly he starts talking normally.

Whack job. People get put in padded cells for stuff like that. I'd suggest you try and help the poor guy before he tries to catch a ride on a comet somwhere.

he may well be speaking the truth AS HE SEES IT.

Members of many pentecostal groups believe that they speak in tongues. To an outsider it sounds like an oddly melodious gibberish. The believers think it is either an unknown language or the "language of the angels".

If I were you I'd refuse to be impressed until he spoke a recognisable language you know he didn't speak before.

There's nothing more retarded than people who speak in tongues. I don't even believe in the bible, but if I did, it says only those that are devinely inspired should speak in tongues. Are you telling me that every fricken member of a church with 3000 members is devinely inspired at the exact same time? I don't think so. I vote for whack job.

God gives people various gifts, and talking in tongues is one of them (check out 1st Corinthians). You should go to church with him one day to see if he's telling the truth. Also 1st Corinthians says that a translator has to be in church too, or else talking in tongues would be relentless because no one would understand it; unless your buddy is speaks in tongues and translates.

Maybe "yes" to both. Maybe "yes" to one or the other. Or maybe YOU are "whacked" for not being able to recognize that he's not "born again". Or maybe YOU are a liar for making it up. Only YOU may know. God knows for sure.

Peace

I always thought it was weird that most of them only did it on Sunday (Supposedly Gods Day off... yet they make him work). And then others claim they can do it on command... therefore God is just at their beck-n-call.

Most of em are liars.

He's not a whack job. He could be telling you the truth. If he believes in receiving the gift of the holy ghost then he could be speaking in tongues. Most who are of apostolic faith believe in speaking in tongues. Also a lot of nondenominational churches believe in it. He's not a whack job. He could just be really intune with God.

George Costanza once said, "It's not a lie if you believe it." I'd still have to lean toward whack job.
