Does your aspergers effect your ability to interact with people? To what extent? If you simply aren't that outgoing to social, it wouldn't be a problem. If you need to be placed in positions where you don't interact or get touched, then it's best to make sure they know in advance, so they can tell whether you will fit in with their program, and they will fit in with your needs. I'm sure they will do their best to accommodate. So if it does need accommodating, I'd think it better to say so up front. If it's just a personality style and tends not to be that evident to people, then it wouldn't need to be said in advance. You'll be away from home. You dont' want to be having problems first pop up. This seems to be a dependent very much on your particular situation. I can think of aspergers people for whom I would suggest no need to say anything (no one would really guess), and others where there's a big need (they barely have any sense of how to read anyone's expressions). You are probably guessing correcting that while the kibbutz will be more flexible (most likely), the IDF may or may not depending on your particular situation. They need the help, but not if they have to take care of a medical situation. So hard to know... I would suggest calling up unanimously and asking the IDF (start with the embassy if need be.) I'll star, maybe someone else has direct experience. @Viva - what an unusual viewpoint. Many people are still appreciating and living in Kibbutz or Moshav life. Though I know a lot of the kids grew up and didn't want to stay with it. But to badmouth it that strongly?? Never heard that before.

yes, but not as many- people even stay on them for vacation
