... Here's a small quote:
"In the city of Mashhad in north-eastern Iran, two gay teens have been executed. One was 18 and the other is thought to have been 16 or 17. First they were lashed 228 times, though. Not long after the execution there were howls of outrage from the Iranian parliament - not at the execution itself, but at the temerity of journalists to report it."
I have read many posts on this very site saying, "People are racist, thinking that all Muslems are terrorists. Muslems are good people..."
Okay, the situation is not simple. This is a clash of cultures, a clash of values. There is clearly something rotten at the core of Islam -- that "Islam is a religion of peace, it's just a few bad apples that blow up buildings..." excuse simply cannot fly anymore. How can we have an honest discussion without admitting that certain behavior & beliefs ARE NOT OKAY?

There is something wrong at the core of Islam. And Christianity. And Atheism. Its called "people". CS Lewis once said that the biggest argument against Christianity is Christians. I think the same can be said for any other faith system, political position, or group.
That having been said, in the case of Islam you have a warrior religion trying to drag itself out of the Middle Ages. We would find that sort of action abhorrent, just like the penalty for being raped in a Muslim nation is execution as an adulteress. Islam has to change itself if it is to be the religion of peace so many claim it is.

Christians in America would do the same thing if they could get away with it! Rev. Jimmy Swaggart said he would kill a gay man and then tell God he died (murder + lying for Jimmy). His statement and video are attached, so obviously as a minister he feels it is OK to murder people. How is this different from the situation in Iran?

And you consider Jews & Christians to be any different?
Perhaps you recall Pat Robertson's statement that 9/11/01 was the result of tolerating homosexuals.
You should since it was echoed by millions of Christians around the world.

OK by whose standards? Yours? We may not agree with everything others do, but cultures vary.
That is one of the things that has made ther USA so unpopular.
We seem to think everyone has to go by our standards. They do not.

That is horrible, it puzzles me though. I have often read that many of the older men keep small boys around, along with their wives. Is that not true?

Of course, there is no homophobia in the US. And it seems all too easy to ignore the hate crimes of which you are fully aware.

Hey - those two got off lucky - do you have any idea what would have happened to them if they had been caught by Christians? Believe you and me, the Muslims didn't hurt them half as bad....
