I say torture them. And for all those bleeding heart liberals, these no good ************ don't have any rights under the Geneva Convention. That is for soldier's of enemy countries, not militant *****************!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I say we should allow our troops to do whatever it takes to get information out of these terrorists. They are not normal people normal means will not work on them. We need to scare alla(oops not sure if I spelled that right and oops I may have offended one of them). And as for "Club Gitmo" they are being treated better than they ever had been in their lives! Three meals, a cot, and their prayer blanket. They are being treated better than our men and women of the Armed Forces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These militants don't care who they hurt as long as it is an American! Shot first and ask questions later.

You're incorrect: Many of the detainees at Guantanamo have already been found to be innocent and released. We were paying bounties for any "terrorists" in Afghanistan, and a lot of the locals turned in any Arab they could find just for the money, even if the person had no connection whatsoever to terrorism.
One big deal with torturing terrorist SUSPECTS is, of course, that the person may be innocent.
On this general note, an estimated 70-80% of the people at Abu Ghraib were innocent of any charge. Some of our military sweeps were simply rounding up any & all military-aged males.

Well, first off, most civilized people would like to think that the U.S. is above inhumane treatment of another Human being, regardless of what they have done.
Secondly, the people you are ok to torture as terrorsits, did they strap a bomb on their backs and blow people up? Nope, for if they did, they would not be in Prison. So, stating you would be okay with torturing someone who 'might' strap on a bomb and kill someone doesn't really hold much ground, for they HAVE NOT done that yet. (yes, others have, but not the ones your ok with torturing.)
And I read an article not too long ago from a Video Expert that reviewed the Nicholas Berg beheading. Her conculsions were that the beheading was a fake. Was he beheaded? Probably, but not on live video like they want us to believe. The Expert stated that the victim wasn't moving, perhaps he was dead before the beheading? Anyway, it's not my place to guess, the only ones who know beyond a reasonably doubt whether that video is real, are the ones in it and who were there when it was filmed.
Stating that your fine with torture isn't a good thing. It actually shows how stupid you are. Torture is a thing that humans do to one another, that should not be done to anyone. There are other means and ways to retrieve information from Prisoners other than torture.
And, by the way, Torture is not allowed in the United States. So if your keen on liking tortore and you live in the U.S., go ahead and move on out to a country that uses it. Because I for one, as a U.S. citizen, do not condone torture.

if they were actually proven to be terrorists then torture would be fine, that coming from a liberal that would fight for my child. The problem is that all the conservatives are sheep and believe everything that they hear on Fox. I disagree. I don't know why liberals are known for being wimps and push overs, just because we think outside of torture. All we are doing is breeding more terrorists, I can assure you that. We are certainly setting a great example for the rest of the world. It is funny that the conservatives seem to stand alone in the world on the issues of Iraq and terrorists

It is hard for the USA to hold itself out as an example of human rights and demanding that other countries such as China improve it's humans rights record while we maintain another set of standards for ourselves.
The application of the Geneva Convention concerning POWs notwithstanding, we don't treat them as POWs, nor do I believe that we should. However, they do have certain basic rights as humans that should be observed.
My concern is less the treatment of the terrorist and more about the secret prisons and spiriting people away to other countries. That is troubling as it raises the question of where a line is drawn; if it works for terrorism what about other crimes? And what if they were wrong about someone being a terrorist. Holding people without due process and using torture to exact confessions from people who have not been found guilty of crimes is something the United States has rallied against for years.

Ohh geez you are SO wrong on so many counts I don't know were to begin...
First of all torture has been proven to be worthless as a source of intelligence, if you torture me enough I'll say I gave birth to Bush although being a younger male that is clearly impossible.
Second, "you are what you think in a dark room in the middle of the night", we are measured not by our highest standards but by our lowest actions, do we really want to be remembered as the United Statesians 'the torturing people'?
Third, terrorists today are people that are fighting for what they believe in, however wrong or misguided it might be from our point of view. They are fighting with the only weapons they can muster, they do not have an F22 raptor at their disposal, they do not have intelligent weapons, they do not even have body armor or the semblance of an intelligence organization behind them. They are fighting for what they believe in, in the only way they can. They are not savages, they just can't fight an army from the United Statesian military from first century of the Space Age.
Fourth, if we don't subscribe to the Geneva convention, how can we expect that anybody that we ever fight (and we will fight other people/nations in the future) will do the same?
Sixth and last, torturing would not only NOT PREVENT another attack on the US but incidentally almost certainly would incite them. There is nothing that fuels other people to join the fight against us more than rage, and if they were to know that we are torturing people that would be all the seeds latent rage against the US would need.
I'll finish by quoting history, "Sir, have you no sense of decency?"

at the start, Obama the terrorist supporter (who sat and LISTENED to Rev, Wrights anti American and anti white and anti semitic speeches for 2 an prolonged time) won't launch the different factor of the torture records that teach we DID benefit lots efficient information like some which prevented an important attack on l. a. California, from what I actual have heard. 2nd. liberals are comprehensive hypocrites who scream against torturing terrorists yet then DEMANDED that Michael Vick be tortured interior the main terrible way achieveable. no longer for information yet just to get revenge on him for the animals they worship. additionally they could no longer wait to circulate after the AIG workers homes and yell for the harmless babies to be murdered. Why? it rather is all component to their hatred of freedom and democracy. they prefer it destroyed for some motives; One is as a results of the fact they prefer to be on top of issues like Stalin replaced into in Russia. yet another is as a results of the fact they want a loose hand to kill every person who believes in G-d and morals, fairly non secular Christians and Jews. Then they prefer to kill something of the Jews. every person who doubts this ought to work out any familiar blog tale on the subject of Israel vs the Arabs and watch all the vicious hatred spewed against Jews with the help of the white "Aryan" nazis and different liberals.

And the difference between you and them is what; You worship different, but related, imaginary beings?
bag2calli -
What are you talking about? The detainees were not all 'caught' in the act' - even the administration knows better than to try and sell this line. Some were turned in just for the cash reward. And, as someone else here pointed out, some detainees have been proven innocent.
If you want information, cigarettes and soft drinks work better than toilet water - of course that's just the opinion of some interrogators at Gitmo and most professionals.
But then, Bush doesn't listen to the experts so why should you.
Of course, that's the way to go if you don't care about America and get off watching people be tortured.

What makes democracy better than other forms of governments, namely dictatorships and religious monarchies, is human rights and due process. Otherwise, the other governments can also declare Americans "terrorists", "spies", and government secret agents, and proceed to torture and kill them at their own discretion. The process for declaring someone a terrorist and other enemy should be open so that it openly shown by evidence that someone is an enemy, then they can get their just punishment or vindication as the case may be.

The trouble is with those in the "PC" crowd or those that are Bush Haters... It doesn't matter what Bush says or does it will forever be wrong...
As far as those Terrorist i think they should take someone like Saddam Huessein and Torture him to the Edge of Death Daily or weekly what ever would be more painful but yet keep him alive... Cane him, whip'em, Water board'em and more ....
