Insomnia could be caused by a number of things. It could be because of stress, caffeine before bedtime, other healthcare problems, fever, stomache ache, constantly worrying, any meds that you might be taking, or maybe erratic work hours. Some things you can do about it is take over the counter sleep aid pills. You have to have at least 8 hours of sleep or you could go see a physician and you might have to do a sleep study. your phd can also prescribe something for you if otc drugs dont work.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

First off, don't take medications; they make it much much worse.
Ambien caused to to sleep drive, eat, run my car in a ditch, stand out in the middle of a busy highway without any recollections
If you truly feel you have a sleep disorder, the best way to go is through your primary care doctor It is a process (trial and error) don't give up. I sleep may 2 hours a day

usually stress, either with family, friends, work, etc.
You can do a hobby, something you like about an hour before you sleep, it should get your mind off things. Or you can start excersizing on a regular basis, that should help a lot.
if those fail to work, talk to a doctor annd they can prescibe you some sleeping medicine

May want to try and replace the thoughts that keep your mind active.. you can train yourself to do this... your imagination knows no bounds, so learn to use it to find something a lot more pleasant to think about.
