I have pork in my freezer with a June Sell By date, I bought in June and it's been in the freezer since. Is it still good?

The sell by date I believe is if it is kept in the refrigerator. Food last longer in the freezer. Pork is good for up to 4 months in the freezer, beef is 1 year, ground beef is 3 months, and chicken 9 months. I looked this up in my good housekeeping cookbook. Hope it helped.

Food will not spoil in the freezer. This is why we use them to store food. However, it is possible for food (particularly meat) to get "freezer burn" if it has been in there a long time (like a year or so). Freezer burn is pretty obvious when you thaw it out. you will see patches on the outside that look dehydrated. This isn't harmful, it just doesn't taste very good. Sometimes if it is minor you can just cut away the freezer burned part and the rest will be OK.

There are freezer guides available at book stores or Newsagents.
There are different freezer lives for different food
If the Pork has not been previously defrosted it should be fine.

I went to International Science Fair with an experiment exactly like what you are talking about. I found that meat will retain it's nutritional value for 3 weeks in the freezer. After that the nutritional value drops quickly. (This can be applied to all foods, not just meat.)

The "authorities" on the subject set the cut off line at 4 weeks. Then they recommend throwing it out. I personally throw it out after 3 weeks.

If it was put in the freezer before the sell date, it will stay good up to 3-4 months. If there is freezer burn, I wouldn't try it.

If you froze it before the expiration date it should still be safe to eat. If it's been in there for a long time it'll probably taste nasty and freezer burnt.

Yes, because it has been frozen. However, when you get it out, use it right away, don't let it linger in the fridge. I would use it soon,t oo, because meat and other items eventually lose their flavor in the freezer (the flavor is lliterally sucked out by the freezing process). I would use it witin the month.
