We did a thing called "Serve Lodi" (The town i lived in) We raked lawns, did little home improvement tasks for the seniors of our church, took cookies to convalescent hospitals and cleaned up our church. We also worked in soup kitchens, Took meals to AIDS patients in SF, worked at women and Children's shelters and would put fun programs on for the children there. We went to Mexico and built houses for the poor. There really are tons of opportunities if you look around!

We also went and worked at a Christian Camp in our area just to help clean it up for the start of summer season.

One I did a few times with my Girl Scout troop was to get permission from Big Lots to set up in front of the store and hand out flyers with needed items for our cause. We did a 2 day drive for the battered womens shelter and a 4 day drive a week after Katrina. It was great that the kids were able to meet some of the katrina victims and they saw the impact their work had on the community. We had a huge response. Good luck

A in church babysitting day. As car wash, a auction of the youth to do certain specified projects (babysitting, lawn work, garage clean up help. girls can help mom's with house work.) if the person can afford items to fix stuff in their home, but don’t know how to fix it or are physically unable they can help fix things mostly stuff like painting needed done in a house a door knob changes, putting plastic on the windows toward winter, gather stuff to see if others need items like winter blankets, coats, go to an elderly center and have the kids visit, or do a few short plays, or sing , if they are musically talented they can play an instrument for them. The teens can get scrapes of material and see if any would like to make blankets for homeless or even help for women’s clinics. They can gather toys for women with kids in shelters or safe houses where kids stay with the abused mom. (That one you would have to contact a person who knows those programs because many are secret.) Even the girls who know makeup can see if people would help women in those places with buying makeup if they have physical scares from the abusers they wish to cover. If they worry about the fact that they wouldn't have to know the color shade for the women’s skin. They can gather money for the purpose and but gift cards for the woman to were they can buy the makeup themselves. Raising money to put on gift cards for certain purposes can be a very broad direction. Helping many causes not all for raising money, but also to just be helpful. Both can even be combined.
