My sister has had 3 and the time served was not in jail. She had to pay a whole lot of cash! She had to attend regular AA meetings and she had to have a Breathalyzer installed in her car.
She can go to jail if she is a passenger in a car where folks have been drinking, even if she is sober.
Seems like jail would have been the easier solution. My sister is also the "signer" for my mom who is in a nursing home from a stroke. Maybe they allowed her to suffer in the real world rather than jail??

The person may have been related to someone influential or even another judge in that jurisdiction.
Corruption still exists in some states - albeit on a lower level.

If it was your first offense you'll most likely go away with a fine... they really come down on repeat offenders though...
