My friend gave me a very expensive bed about 2 yrs ago ( she paid $1200 for it ) and my husband is always going to her house to help her with stuff she needs done so she gave it to me. And I got me another bed and decided to sell that one, my brother was interested in it and I told him I would sell it to him for 100.00 ( I was originally asking 200.00 ) anyways that made my mom mad and she called me up and chewed me out about it, she says I should give it to my brother what do you think?

I think your mom should but out. You didn't really get it for free, you received it as payment for all the help your hubby provided. If you brother doesn't want to pay your asking price put an ad in the paper, I am sure you can sell it for more.

Don't tell me let me guess. Is your brother the only guy/youngest?

This is none of your Mother's business. Besides - why did brother even tell Mom?

Just drop it with your Mom. You will not win. But charge your brother for the bed. Put the money towards the new bed.

Sometimes family believes just because you are tied by blood, that the rules are out the window. You are asking for 100.00 when it could have been in the thousands for an outsider. I think you should sell it o him. That 100.00 may help you and your husband out.

I don't know why earning $100 for the bed is more important to you than helping your brother. Just give him the bed. A hundred dollars wouldn't even buy you a decent purse.

Give him the bed! He is your brother for crying out loud and I would be upset too. You were given the bed you shouldn't profit off a relative anyway. Your mom is right here, sorry

if i got it free, i probably wouldnt ask for money from family but on the other hand, if you were already going to sell it for a little extra cash and then he showed interest i dont see a big deal. if its that nice im sure hes fine to pay 100 bucks.

That was pretty rude; you should have just given it to him instead of trying to make a profit from your own brother off of something you got for free!
