No matter the nature of the complaint and what's being complained about.

This definition is absurd to me and looks like the reasoning of a bully.

What do you think?

Mavy C, I am 9 years older than you are. Mentally I might be younger, but not chronologically, unless your profile is wrong.

I think maturity is about knowing when to complain and getting the job done. Too much complaining is the sign of a whiner and someone who always wants his/her own way. A totally passive non-complainer is a martyr. In our particular times, one has to complain because so many things are done wrong and we are humbled by computer errors. A mature person complains to the right people and gets satisfaction. And I agree with the bully concept. It is very convenient for a bully to team up with non-complainers who will do the works of the bully and not question why or what the outcome will be.

This is a ridiculous definition of maturity as look at the group of folks we define as "mature." No one ever complains, moans, and whines half as much as older folks do about just about everything. If you ever see an older person quit complaining for twenty minutes or longer, call a doctor!!! Because they are almost certainly preparing to die.

I think it depends on the situation. Sometimes a complaint is called for. Other times, you just gotta suck it up and know its just not your day. I know I can't always get what I want and I have to stop myself occasionally from whining about it because it doesn't help not even a little.

I think that you are right.

Maturity is being able to state your preferences (don't call them complaints) in a civil manner. For example, "Mom, I'd rather have green beans and not carrots for dinner" Not, "Yuck, not carrots again.")

That's true. Mature people complain too. You can't go through life accepting everything that goes on in your life.

this is a stupid concept, there are plenty of mature adults who complain, and some adults will hypocritically tell younger people that they are immature because they compalin, just ignore them.

It is about choosing your battles. (so you do not complain about things that do not matter)
