Alright, I'm getting braces the day before I turn 30 (in two weeks)... I went to the ortho's office for my records appointment and I was the oldest patient there by about 2 decades! Ugh, did I feel old or what...

Anyway - adults out there with braces - how do you feel about them? Love them (haha ..i know)? Hate them? Totally traumatized?! Can I really not drink carbonated beverages!?! :) Thank you.

I am 21 now, and had braces from the time I was a freshman in Highschool to about when I was a senior. Actually I got lucky, I got to take them off just before senior prom.

I had no problems with them. They do hurt at first. You can still drink things such as soda and other things, just be sure to brush your teeth really good. However, braces make it difficult to eat anything hard. But they gave a beautiful smile. So just think that when you are finished wearing them you will have a beautiful smile. Sorry, I answered the best I could. Good luck!

I feel you. I just got braces a month ago. Granted I am only 22, it still is horrible. I have people question my drivers liscense when I go out drinking. I look like I am 16 and it may just be my imagination but it feels like no one takes me seriously anymore because they assume I am a teenager. My mom had braces when she was 30-32. The problems in our mouth didn't pop up until we got older. I absolutely hate them and they are making a huge hassle in my life much more so than kids. I have to take time off work every few weeks to go get them adjusted and is becoming very cumbersome. But at least my teeth will be beautiful when they are done. I just wish it was something that could have been taken care of when I was younger.

Yea. my mom is 46 and she recently got her top braces and she's had her bottom braces for about a year now. She's ok with them and you can drink sodas and stuff like that you just have to brush your teeth right away cause if you dont the sugar will stick to your braces and your teeth will get cavitites and the wires will rot and break down.

Carbonated beverages will further stain your teeth. You will have white boxes on your teeth where the metal brackets are, if you are getting typical braces. Have you found out if you're a canidate for invisalign?

examine with an orthodontist to be sure what might want to ensue for your enamel and your chew down the line in case you aren't getting them fixed now. in the experience that your enamel do not meet acceptable even as your mouth is closed, then you actually are in possibility for dropping a number of them or your enamel getting even extra crooked. yet first you would possibly want to discover out in case you want them for dental wellbeing causes or only for aesthetics. i do not imagine they are that undesirable in any respect, they could harm slightly after your month-to-month visit to get them tightened, in spite of the undeniable fact that this is worth it later. and also you would possibly want to get the hot clear style that are really a lot invisible (yet not the plastic ones, those turn yellow after some months.) There are also different thoughts for straightening enamel, like retainers.
