I applied for a position as a Special Agent the pay is ok depending on your local, but I was wondering if there are any other perks this job/government jobs have?

As far as I know, many of the perks are not "official" however you will find yourself in positions of influence where you will get opportunities that others would not get. For instance my buddy is a police officer and because of his duties, he tends to get a first crack at the vehicles that are for sale in the local auction. Or if you were a security guard for a local concert you might be able to get autographs of someone famous.

Long hours, being called to duty at any time and having to work around the clock when needed. Having to be willing to travel overnight with no notice at all if needed.

The the right to have people lie about what you do and try and find reasons to sue you and the department anytime you act.

And I understand you have to buy your own badge case.

Well, apparently J. Edgar got away with dressing in women's clothes....guess that would be a perk, for him anyway, that and having a hand in the Kennedy assassinations. Peace.

It's the FBI. You get to be a Special Agent. What more do you want?

You're unlikely to get a speeding ticket if you don't get too obvious about it. You will be entrusted with the nation's secrets and generally know more inside information about crime than the rest of us. That's a nice perq.

Yes, but they don't talk about it until you're onboard, so to speak.
