The six meal diet is when you eat six healthy small meals instead of 3 large ones. This keeps your metabolism up throughout the day. You don't have to lose weight before you start. In fact it is best to stick with one diet while trying to lose weight so that your body can adjust.

Hi there!
I am assuming it is some kind of diet where you eat six meals a day. This is what you are supposed to do anyway so I would say go ahead and start it since it will help you lose weight that much faster as long as you keep the same calorie threshold.
It seems like losing weight is your thing, so I would suggest you eat 5-6 meals between 300-400 calories each, staying below 2000 calories per day. This has a two pronged advantage.
First, frequent meals keeps your metabolism high, burning more calories throughout the day.
Second, by capping yourself at 2000, you cover your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), but any movement beyond that will go straight to fat burn, aka, losing weight.
I believe this answers your question, but if not, you may email me.
Good luck on your diet and fitness goals!

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. I don't know exactly what it is, but I would venture to say it is saying to eat 6 meals per day. Take your total caloric intake for the day and divide it into 6 meals. This is excellent to do right in the beginning of a diet. It stokes your metabolism, making the body utilize calories easier and faster, i.e. weight loss.

Protien in every meal. And you aren't eating a full meal. It is like spreading 3 meals out over the day at 6 times. Also, it involves alot more whole grains, veggies and fruits.

Oh, sure, absolutely. At six meals a day, the pounds should just melt away. Think of how much you could lose if you ate 12 meals a day!

Eat 6 mini-meals a day. Aretha Franklin lost a lot of weight like this(not a good example huh?).

Here's a good six-meal plan: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Here are some choices:
Breakfast: plain oatmeal with a little peanut butter mixed in, scrambled egg whites with salsa, high-fiber cereal like with a banana, carnation instant breakfast in the blnder with ice, skim milk, and a banana (like a shake... delicious!)
Lunch: all veggie sandwich on whole wheat with vinagrette (very easy and very filling), those little tuna and cracker kits and some cottage cheese or a fruit you like, a Smart Ones frozen dinner, big salad
Dinner: grilled fish or chicken, a filling salad, stir-fry with chicken or just veggies, baked sweet potatoe with a little margarine and cinammon and a salad
snacks: cottage cheese servings, low-fat yogurt with frozen berries mixed in, any fruit or veggies (I love frozen fruit with Spelnda sprinkled on it), half a PBJ sandwich, tomatoe slices with vinagrette and a piece of low-fat mozarella cheese, a handful of almonds
Some healthy fast food choices are: small Chili or side salad from Wendy's, Subway veggie sandwich, grilled Chicken caesar from McDonald's (use half the dressing)
Also there's no reason to wait to lose weight to start. This will help you lose weight!
