My friend is turning 21 in mid-October and a group of us are going to take her out. We live on Long Island; we plan to get a limo for the evening and get dinner and then maybe a bar to follow. My friend is the reserved type, and she has forbid us to take her to a strip club. I am looking for suggestions of resturants or anything else that would make the night memorable. Thanks!

Your budget is totally unrealistic. Assume a drink, e.g. a glass of wine is $8-12, assume a tip of $5, and that leaves you with roughly $5-10 for dinner. Even the worst food place in NYC will charge more than that. You'd be better off having a drink and a dessert - that's it - which you could do at a lot of places, including the Oyster Bar in Grand Central. Alternatively, buy something in the fresh food market at Grand Central, but a 1/2 bottle of wine to share, carry a picnic basket with you, and walk to the Park to eat a picnic.

My girlfriends and I went to this really cute place Mangia e Beve for my bachelorette party. The prices were good and the food was great. They gave us tamborines, and we danced on the tables!! Here is the site
http://mangiaebevi.com

We also went to the culture club afterwards (80's club) I don't know if you guys are too young to think that is fun since you might not know all the songs and decor. but if you do go there, you can go the the private show first called Birdies Bachelorette (it doesn't matter it is for a birthday) do a search and you will find it on the web.

I have to say we had so much fun that night my face hurt from laughing so much.

HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE!!!

I know just the place! Go to Lucky cheng's! It is very cool and interesting....I don't know anyone who didn't have fun there!

For a special night out in New York, whether to shock your "wild" friends from Des Moines, or to host a birthday party, a bachelorette party, even an office party, try Lucky Cheng's, the original drag queen restaurant, or its sister restaurant, Waikiki Wally's, a 50's/60's Hawaiian restaurant and tiki bar, with tropical birds and a waterfall, it is truly an escape from the mundane.

Our drag queen restaurant with mutipule free nightly shows followed by a full night of drag karaoke, down stairs in the Voodoo Lounge where you will find live djs mixind it up on the dance floor (great for private parties), or next door at our Hawaiian restaurant Waikiki Wally's you're sure to have the time of you life. Lucky Cheng's and Waikiki Wally's rival each other for the best cocktail menus in town!

Lucky Cheng's boasts entertainment nightly by drag queen cabaret performers, followed up by an outragous night of drag karaoke and delectable asian fusion and polynesian cuisine

You have to check out a place called TAJA. We took our friend there for dinner as part of her bachelorette party. Absolutely amazing! It's a restaurant and bar and they serve a fusion of Mediterranean and North African cuisine. The atmosphere is awesome - so much fun! They have belly dancing but the clothes stay on, so if your friend is a little conservative it might satisfy everyone. Great drinks and delicious food. We had a blast!

Go anyhwere you want for food, but for drinks, go to Dallas BBQ, there are 5 or 6, but the best one (in my opinion, and not as crowded as the one in Times Square) is the one in Chelsea on 23rd street and I believe 7th ave. You should go there for food though, really good BBQ, seriously.

When ordering drinks, get Texas-size (it's like 20 ounces). Careful though, that place can be packed at night. Yet when it is, it's more festive.

Just went to Bubba Gump's, located in Times Square near the MTV studios. Awesome waitstaff, great food, fun atmosphere...I think you guys would have a great time! You can wave to the people going by on the double-decker tour buses and they will wave back, thinking you are a celebrity! Have fun!
