DUI (Driving Under the Influence) is not only for alchohol.
You could be under the influence of a drug. In this case your granny's pain pills
If they are prescription and you are not the one they are prescribed to then yes you commited a crime.
Many prescription Pain Pills are strong enough (otherwise they would be over-the-counter) to affect a person driving They cause drowseyness and other affects that will impair your ability to drive
in effect.. you were DRUNK on the pills.

DUI refers to "driving under the influence" so it isn't necessary that you had been consuming alcohol to be cited.
If you were impaired by a prescription pill that wasn't even your prescription, you could be facing something else entirely in addition to the DUI charge.
Any sentence you get will depend on a variety of factors, including your past record and the specifics of this particular traffic stop. No attorney can tell you your sentence, that is something that is recommended to the judge by the prosecutor and the judge has the final say.

Well Dear I feel sad for you... You Could try apealing to the Judge stating that you were taking those pills. But then if you didn't have those perscribed to you and your taking someone elses your just plain out of Luck... But Gosh where are you from? If this is a 1st Offense many times they don't give someone Jail time??? Sounds a little fishy to me....
If your really going to the Big House for those 4 months Just watch out so you don't get aids from some of those prisoners

Sounds like you've been down the road before and the judge is giving you 4 months. If your lawyer can do nothing, I would suggest that you spend the next 4 months thinking about your driving skills.

DUI does not always refer to alcohol. If you are driving under the influence of your grandmother's perscription medication you actually have violated two laws- 1. Driving under the influence of a narcotic. and 2. Using someone else's perscription medication that was not prescribed to you.

Sounds a little suspect to me.I'm a former Military Policeman and I know for a FACT that police ALWAYS do a breath test BEFORE anything else!
So why the tale?

4 month's jail? if so then this is not the first time, since they have hard evidence of you being under the influence and driving , under the influence includes more then just booze
