The first step is to call the creidt card company and tell them that you think that your credit card has been compromised.
They will reccommend to you that you close the existing account. This does not fully cancel your account with the company. They will cancel the credit card number, and issue a new card. They will also send out an affidavit, so you can claim that you do not know what the charge is.
If you are found to not be responsible for the charge, and you are in otherwise good standing with the company, this will not affect your score.

If it is proven to be fraudulent then it would be cleared from your record and not affect your credit score. The first thing to do is contact your credit card and report the charge and have them put a hold on your card. If it is a fraudulent charge then the imposter still have your account number.
Once the issue is resolved ask your credit card company to cancel that card and issue a new one because of the fraud.

If you suspect anything at all you should inform the card issuer immediately - if you don't and it does end up being comprimised then there isn't anything the credit card company will do for you. And you don't have to close the account, the card issuer can just cancel that card and issue you a new one with a new number - then your credit score won't be affected.

Call the credit card company and explain. They will do the background work for you. If you're not using it, then close it. The more credit cards you have open, even with a zero balance, the lower your score.

You should call the credit card company and ask them to send you the sales slip. If it is not a charge you made they will investigate and remove it from your account. If you find out that it was someone else using your card then you might want to report your card as stolen and have a new card issued.

The myth that it's bad to close a credit card is something propagated by the banks to keep you on a financial leash.
It's completely untrue.
If you think it's been compromised you can call your bank and have them issue you a new card with a new number.
Simple.

Call the card company and inform them immediately, they will issue you a new card number. That does not have any effect on your credit score.

Call your credit card company and tell them you suspect someone has stolen your credit or identity. If you didn't do the purchase yes cancel it and the sooner you report the sooner you can stop it, next month you may have bigger debits. Your credit card company will issue you another if you have good credit with them and cancel this one, may even launch investigation. Don't wait do it now.

You dont need to close the account. Your CC company can actually change the account numbers on the card without actually closing/opening a new one.
Inform the company immediately so this can be researched.
