A tabby cat is actually named after a pattern not after what sex the cat is. Tabby markings are the markings that make cats look like tigers....there are more than one type of tabby mackeral tabby, spotted tabby, ticked tabby, and classic tabby. The correct term for a female cat is queen and a male cat is a tom. Tabby is an incorrect term since tabby cats can be either male or female. A tortie cat (black and red) can only be female and the same with calico (black, white, and red).

Umm....domestic short hair? Domestic long hair? I don't really know what you're looking for here.

Oh, I know! How about "female cat"?

And "tabby" isn't just for females.

I hate to tell the cat breeder this, but there CAN be male tricolors (torties and calicos).....they're just rare.

I call my cat scooter. She's a female cat and everytime I come home from work she scoots her butt across the floor. She doesn't have worms because I've already had her checked for that. I think she just likes to scratch her butt.
