that's an oxymoron

I myself went agnostic after seeing all the conservative, fundamentalist "Christians" pervert the Scriptures for their own political gain, and turn the church into a tool of discrimination.

That said though, I knew about a dozen leftie Christians, who were --and still are -- decent, God-fearing people who harbor true compassion. They see everyone as God's children, so don't persecute gays. They believe in Christ's teaching about forgiveness and peace, and so don't support the war. They also believe in charity and social work, and are often active in homeless shelters, etc. while the more pompous right-wingers are usually lazing about their elegant homes, decrying the "bums" who obviously deserve their fate because they're non-believers.

I wish the Christian Left was as prominent as the Christian Right -- so people don't think all Christians are judgmental, greedy, and hypocritical.

GREAT question!

It's NOT an oxymoron, people. Both my parents are. In fact, a lot of the Christians I know are liberal.

I am. Christianity, and the teachings of Christ are very liberal ideals. Caring for your fellow man with compassion and love, eschewing material things for spiritual enlightment are not what I would describe as Conservative Mantras.
Most Christians are liberal in there thoughts, if they are true to Christ. Ask yopurself on any social issue, where would Christ stand? Helping the Homeless? (Hint Christ says Yes) Retribution and retaliation with war? (Hint Christ says no) Taking care of the sick and those that cant help themselves? (Yes) Respecting the rights of others to exist?
The only items i see open to debate are Abortion, and Suicide. But even christ said you will be forgiven if you err on those choices.

I am most definately a Christian... but some of my views are more liberal than others... but I am pretty sure that I would still be considered a conservative. Me? I would rather not put a label on it at all.

I'm liberal - I'm so far left I don't think I rank on any scale.
I am a metaphysical Christian; a 'new age' Christian. If I live by any book it would be "A Course in Miracles".

Don't know how you define liberal. I don't agree with all liberal views or all conservative views.

For the record...I'm a Christian and a Democrat. Yes, it is possible and there are plenty of us!

Wgat in the world would that mean? That a person only adheres to a limited number of Christian tenets?

Wasn't Jesus a liberal? Check out the definition of "liberalism" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal) and the one for "Conservatism" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservatism), & it's VERY hard to believe one could realistically characterize Jesus Christ as anything other than a raging liberal!
