Hi there !

You have mentioned that you have got thrombocytopaenia..but what is the present count etc..has not been mentioned..
Okay..Thrombocytopaenia means the reduced platelet count.
It could be due to umpteen number of causes..
The most commonly encountered causes are due to :
1. viral infections like Dengue fever.
2. Medications which lead to Bone marrow
suppression and hence reduced platelet
production.
3. Due to other conditions wherein the Bone
Marrow gets replaced by fibrous tissue or
other abnormal cells.. etc etc..

It is always better to openly discuss with your Haematologist the details, as a column like this (wherein many people answer) may make you more and more confused...
Dont worry...your clinical Haematologist knows the best..!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery !

a decrease in the number of platelet cells in the blood. Platelets have an important role in the control of bleeding by filling any small holes that may arise in blood vessel walls. Therefore a reduction in their number results in the tendency to bleed, especially from the smaller blood vessels into the skin and other organs.

alot of causes...
if only mild it could be just an artefact due to platelet clumping or a blood clot in the sample.
other causes could be decreased production or increased destruction..
the best answer u'd get is from u're treating Dr.
he/she is who knows best about u're condition.
(may I ask...why u did the ultra sound)
