For the past six years I've had severe right upper quadrant abdominal pain...a surgeon removed my appendix five years ago and it didn't help. Besides the pain I've experienced diarreah, vomiting, nausea and severe gas. I've had three or four ultrasounds of my abdominal area and they all show up as normal. All blood tests show up as normal. My doctor thought it was my gallbladder but the latest scan came back normal. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I'm getting frustrated with getting no where.

First of all, six years is too damn long to suffer with any kind of pain. I think it is unconscionable for doctors to leave you hurting and not coming up with alternatives.
You mention that you have had ultrasounds but have you have upper and lower GI's or MRI's? Have they run an endoscopy to see if you have GERD, ulceration, or any other problems? Sounds like you need a really good gastroenterologist to work with you. You could have adhesions from your previous surgery, Irritable bowel syndrome, Crone's disease or perhaps something as simple as an intolerance to lactose.
If you have any teaching hospitals in the area, try to get a referral to the Gastro dept. They are usually tops in their fields and tend to charge much less. Do not allow them to just blow you off. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets greased.
Best of luck,
T

You need to lie down and time the pains and see if there is any kinda routine or pattern to them. Drink some water before you lie down too. Once you time them and find out about how far apart they are then you should call the Dr. You can talk to a nurse and see if is something to due with the antibiotics or not. You could be having braxton hicks contractions and those do cause you to be in pain. They are not the real thing but they still do cause pain. Good luck it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to a baby.

my husband"s bad gall bladder did noit show up until he drank the whole milk and then had the ultra sound? Did you do that?

It seems your body is trying to tell you something. Maybe you have a food allergy.
I found that I was allergic to red dye 40. ..it took yrs to fig out. Maybe you have to watch dairy/ grains/ or even certain types of meats. Maybe you need to document everything you eat and then when u have that pain try to pinpoint what could be a trigger. you may have several allergies. Then when U figure it out avoid for a long period...then eat it and see what happens
or go to an allergist and see if a skin test can be given.

I dont know if I helped but..we went through that with me, our dog, and our girl.

I went through the EXACT same thing and it turned out to be Crohn's Disease. Because Crohn's tends to bounce back and forth between remissions, it's often difficult get properly diagnosed. Blood tests and ultrasounds won't show Crohn's Disease.

Ive been sick for the past 5 yrs and finally got a doc to listen to me. I am being treated now for intestinal yeast overgrowth. I want you to look up yeastsyndrome.com

If you have any other of the symptoms, then read further into it.

They never found a thing wrong with me either. Tests were always normal.

Stomach pain or bellyache may be caused due to a problem in the organs in the abdominal region including digestive system, the liver, the gall bladder, pancreas, the appendix and the kidney. Minor problems like gastroenteritis can cause severe stomach pain, while fatal illnesses like cancer may cause only mild pain. Its not uncommon to have a diseased gall bladder and the tests show up 'normal'. I had to have my gall bladder removed and I had these same symptoms except for the fact that I had gall stones. You definately should get a second opinion.

Do some research on Limu Plus... I take it daily and it has helped me with my indigestion.

More info on how Limu Plus can help you:

Improves GI Functions - Consistent fucoidan supplementation resulted in improved function of the upper gastrointestinal tract, according to studies conducted in Tokyo.

Prevents Ulcers - The Yukult Central Institute for Microbiological Research reported C-fucoidan prevented the attachment of ulcer-causing bacteria to stomach-lining cells.

Relieves Peritonitis - Limu's fucoidan presence may prevent inflammation-causing white cells from migrating to the stomach lining, helping reduce inflammation.

Alleviates Constipation - Limu's mucilage helps the body hold moisture, which can reduce constipation.

Helps with Colon Diseases

Reduces Indigestion

Improves Stroke Damage - Limu's fucoidan has strong anti-inflammatory properties that may help minimize brain damage and memory impairment in stroke sufferers, when taken in repeated dosages.

Lower Stroke Risk - There is evidence limu's fucoidan discourages blood clot formation, lowering the risk of heart attacks and strokes. The Department of Surgical Sciences in Stockholm concluded that the anti-coagulating properties of fucoidan are more potent than the commonly prescribed heparin.

you should have your liver enzymes checked. also your spleen, and pancreas, you say you drink but you didn't say how much....i would suspect something to do with alcohol, most likely the liver. so you may have to get a second opinion if your doctor doesn't find anything.
