like car crashes, sickness, loved ones crash or sick...why doesn't that turn on a lightbulb for people? When you become afraid of death (or afraid of life) these religious ideas make you feel better. Now come on...is that a reason to believe they are true, or doubt they are true?

This is a moment that people become very aware of their own mortality. Fearing their own extinction they seek out a belief system that best has the potential to preserve them.

Many people that have near death experiences realize that death is real and it will happen someday. Then they think... hmmm, what if I was wrong about Christ? I could be in hell right now, God gave me another chance to come to Him...then they take it. And that is great. God doesn't care how you came to Him, as long as you do. Also, I have heard stories about near death experiences where instead of seeing a bright light or someone they love... they felt the horrible pangs of the separation from God... when they came to, they never wanted to feel that horrible feeling again, so they begin their relationship with Christ..

A lot of people become atheists after a trauma too. Is that a reason to believe atheism is true? Why?

That's not true of everyone. I've been a believer since I was 8. Even when I didn't fully understand things, I've always known that I knew I loved God. Sometimes, it takes trama to get people's attention. If trama turns people to God, then thank God for the trama!

Every person is different so each comes to God through different circumstances.

To some, they see finally a need firsthand, they see they need something beyond themselves. They need inner peace and a firm knowledge that event will never take their soul though it might claim their earthly body.

Many answers, many perspectives.

I think that, yes, they are true. To me, When they turn to God isn't as important as the actual fact that they did turn to Him. That is why He is there in bad times as well as good. Many people who turn to Him when bad things happen, continue to keep Him in their lives .

Maybe, is that the way you became one? Don't judge everyone by your experiences.
