The U.S. would be better off if it didn't have the people that cause the police to be needed.

That friend of yours must enjoy their life in la la land. Having worked closely with Law Enforcement and being married to a Detective I am here to tell you that usually everyone sometime in their life needs help from the Police. They really aren't there just to write you tickets, and the majority of them don't even like working traffic that much. They are there to help people, because they want to. Believe me, it is not for the pay, because that is peanuts compared to other people with a 4 year degree in something else besides Criminal Justice. Who would be there to help you sort out rapes, burglaries, drunk driving accidents, homicides? What if someone wrongfully accused you of the above, who would spend the time on making sure that you were cleared of wrongdoing? It is the Police that do this, and alot of people are pretty ungrateful because the only time they see the Police is when either they have screwed up or their family/friends have.

I think that law enforcement is a necessity in any society. True, some police departments may be corrupt, but it's still something that's needed. With police, there's no one to enforce the laws of the land, people would be able to do whatever they wanted. There'd be no way to fix that, since, in order to get people to follow the law, law enforcement would have to be reinstituted. I don't think anyone would want to live in a country were, if something important is stolen from you, there's no way to go about reporting it or getting it back.

That would be a good idea. Then we could all live in fortresses and only venture outside in heavily armed vehicles, constantly fighting off hungry mutants that rape and pillage for a living. Hey, someone call Hollywood! I just got an idea for an action movie and I know the perfect star. I wonder if Mel Gibson is out of rehab yet?

Yes I do. The Constitution provides for law enforcement through a Sheriff and his deputies. It does not provide for a "police force". The executive branch sidesteps this non-delegation by claiming that it must be implied (which it isn't).
Sheriff's are sworn to uphold and protect a citizen's natural and protected rights, and their duty is to the Constitution. Police collectively care nothing for liberty or justice. They answer only to the Government.

If their was no police the world would be one hell of a place. They police, even though I personally don't f*** with them, are here to protect and serve. What if someone killed u r someone u knew? No just would be served. You will go kill them and then someone will come after you. The would just be alot of drama with no end result except us killing each other, robbing each other, etc.

No way, Without the Police, Sting would have never gotten his start in rock and roll. Plus, I like "Every Breath You Take" and "King of Pain."

the world would be better off without crooked cops, there has to be law in some shape form or fashion, the only other choice would be martial law, or anarchy, I don't think anyone wants that.
