Islam. Islam's Holy Book the Noble Quran has so many scientific miracles which God Almighty created. The Noble Quran is uncomparable to any book, good or bad. Many Muslim Scientists 1000 years ago until now use the Holy Quran as an answer to all of the theories and understandment of how God Almighty created everything from the Atom. The Atom is mentioned in the Noble Quran revealed by God 1400 years back and know is discovered recently about 100 years or so.

[010:061] In whatever business thou mayest be, and whatever portion thou mayest be reciting from the Quran,- and whatever deed ye (mankind) may be doing,- We are witnesses thereof when ye are deeply engrossed therein. Nor is hidden from thy Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on the earth or in heaven. And not the least and not the greatest of these things but are recorded in a clear record.

[034:003] The Unbelievers say, "Never to us will come the Hour": Say, "Nay! but most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you;- by Him Who knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous:

[034:022] Say: "Call upon other (gods) whom ye fancy, besides God: They have no power,- not the weight of an atom,- in the heavens or on earth: No (sort of) share have they therein, nor is any of them a helper to God.

[056:005] And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms,

[099:007] Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!

[099:008] And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.

Allah Almighty Said:

"We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and INSIDE THEIR SELVES, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things? (The Noble Quran, 41:53)"

Very Important Discovery:

A new star forming out of a cloud of gas and dust (nebula), which is one of the remnants of the "smoke" that was the origin of the whole universe. (The Space Atlas, Heather and Henbest, page 50)
Allah Almighty said: "Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke...(The Noble Quran, 41:11)"
The Noble Quran on the Origin of the Universe
Only Islam claims that the universe was originated from Dust and Hot Gas, or Smoke.

Another Very Important Discovery:

Allah Almighty Said: "And when the heaven splitteth asunder and becometh ROSY LIKE RED HIDE - (The Noble Quran, 55:37)"
What Allah Almighty is Saying here is that when Galaxies explode, they form a red-rose-shaped explosion. He is also telling us that the Universe will all turn into red exploded galaxies looking like red or reddish roses when the Day of Judgement happens.

I think Hinduism is the closest to science. I can not comment on farthest one.

Some quotes from famous scientists:

1. Carl Sagan:

" The most elegant and sublime of these is a representation of the creation of the universe at the beginning of each cosmic cycle, a motif known as the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva. The god, called in this manifestation Nataraja, the Dance King. In the upper right hand is a drum whose sound is the sound of creation. In the upper left hand is a tongue of flame, a reminder that the universe, now newly created, with billions of years from now will be utterly destroyed."

These profound and lovely images are, I like to imagine, a kind of premonition of modern astronomical ideas."

Sagan continues, "A millennium before Europeans were wiling to divest themselves of the Biblical idea that the world was a few thousand years old, the Mayans were thinking of millions and the Hindus billions"

2. Albert Einstein

"When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect about how God created this universe everything else seems so superfluous."

Nothing but ignorance and folly will surely be the farthest .

Because you come to know what is nature and what and how you are part of it and what God means and if you need a God or not for the destruction of peace among the humans .
As long as religion is the fathest from science folly will be the closest thing to the humans .
Those who want to exploit the folly of the humans do not want them to go anywhere near science and want them to be steeped in ignorance .. Because they do not know if god new science or not or God and believe that Science is independent og God .they have een killed scientists and have even during the modern times told the scientists not to do any reaserch in the creation of th eworld and find out the truth for they are afraid that religon would loose its hiold on the folly of the humans and eprive the chuirches of thir thithes and the priests of thier princely life in the name of a good soul that lived anomadic life and died for peace of humanity.

Religion does not dispute science. It is scientist that dispute religion. To say that the Big Bang Theory is wrong because God created the earth is narrow minded. Who is to say that God did not create the earth with a Big Bang? God is the way of things. Science is the how. Why can't they be compatible with one another? Evolution, you ask? No, just the order of creation, for if evolution were indeed fact, then there would be nothing but humans on the earth. I mean, didn't the single cell "evolve" into humans? Did man not come from monkeys? Then why are there still monkeys?

Zen Buddhism is closest to science, in that Buddhism teaches that all is "One" (just like physics does), and Zen koans teach that things are just as they are.

Fundamentalist Christianity & Fundementalist Islam are farthest from science in that they both teach their "scriptures" are inerrant, when there are multiple clear violations of scientific fact and common sense logic contained in both of these (very successful) religion's dogma.

Closest - Buddhism. I didn't mean to adore Buddha, nor did he wanted to be adored. I meant the concepts and explanations that Siddhartha, the Buddha (meaning the enlightened) gave about everything any human wanted to know. And he wanted each human to know not by studying or listening to sermons but by applying and knowing at the experiential level (first hand experience)

As such Buddha (or Siddhartha) didn't proposed any new religion. He attempted to set right the corruption in Hinduism by the erstwhile and contemporary clergy class. They manage to outcast his ideas and named it Buddhism and retained the corrupted version of Hinduism for their continued business.

Farthest: All religions followed as ritual (including Buddhism)

I don't think any religion holds that prize. It seems to me that it is pretty much up to the individual.

Islam is the religion that has the best relation with science and evidence-based knowledge in both directions:
