i actually just started my undergrad classes for vet school, but for Ohio State, I know for OSU (Ohio) you don't need a bachelor's but it's strongly recommended. if you do major, major in sciene, biology, or microbiology. i'm also going to have a minor in business for the same reason. I've worked at an animal clinic for 6 years, it's AWESOME, don't let anyone scare you away. If you love helping pets, and the medical professional, don't be worried. I haven't looked into Oklahoma State University, but I know Cornell is #1, and Colorado was #2, at the last rating. Just to let you know, so if you want to consider those 2, but if you're looking into Oklahoma that's probably far from home. Oh and also, call Oklahoma SU, they can give you a list of prerquisites, and you can even do the undergrad at a different school to save $$. Hope that helps!

Well, of course, you have to decide on the school-college or university you want to go to, first off. Then, you have to see if that school offers that type of degree. If you are going into that field, Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry is a good major to get started in for vet school, but your minor Bussiness will have to go, will not help you in vet school, i don't think. You need specific classes, and a minor in another type of science like Organic Chemistry or something like that will help you get into Grad School-the one you want to and other stuff like that.

You generally need straight A's to get in to a vet school because they get so many applicants. If you qualify they have a specific set of "vet" classes they'll tell you what you need. It's an eight year course. In high school biology and business and ani animal husbandry or related classes will help. You can also apply to co-op with a local vet.

Make sure your grades are top notch. Major in Biology. Make sure that your dedication goes beyond liking animals...you will see the unpretty side of animals, including blood etc. (not for the squeamish).

One word of adivce, you better be tough as nails and have thick skin because a part of every Veterinarins day is to put animals to sleep breaking the hearts of the owners and probably yours too.

Not trying to scare you off, but thats the sad reality of it.

I wish you the best.

You have to be strong enough to handle the bad too. You cant cry because you have to euthanize a screaming little girls pet.
