the only thing i know from experience the eye doc can detect is glaucoma,cataracts, and an illness like diabeties depending on your blood vessels in your eyes he may tell you your eyes change rapidly because of an underlying disease or condition and only your dr can determine that with blood or urine tests

this is bacterial the later is viral or it could be pink eye
