Here's something I unfortunately really know about. All these relate to UK products: don't touch Head and Shoulders - it has no effect at all. Nizoral and T Gel are OK, but expensive, while the Boots own brand "AntiDandruff Shampoo" from the pharmacy counter (NOT on the shelf) has the same active ingredient. Initially, these are all really effective, but my scalp has "got used" to them somewhat, and the dandruff has returned. The latest treatment, though, isn't a shampoo, but a scalp treatment called "Diprosalic" which needs a GP's prescription. You rub a few drops in the worst effectde areas, and, so far, it has completely cleared my dandruff and itchy scalp.

Make sure it's dandruff and not scalp psoriasis... otherwise normal commercial anti-dandruff shampoos will get nowhere. A tar based shampoo that is good for both and that can be used daily is Alphosyl 2 in 1 available in any Boots.

I stumbled on the remedy for this problem several years ago. My daughter had suffered from eczema which had started to spread on to her head. The doctor prescribed amphosyl shampoo which ,thankfully, worked . I had ran out of shampoo one morning so used the amphosyl which is a combined shampoo with conditioner. What a remarkable difference, my scalp felt so clean that you could actually see and feel a shine to it. I now very rarely have to use it, but if I feel any dryness I use it to prevent dandruff starting up again.

Most shampoos are not good for dandruff as they are full of chemicals. You should try either a watered down vinegar solution or rub wheat germ oil into your scalp and leave overnight. When you wash it next morning your scalp will feel much better plus your hair will be nice and shiny.

Nizoral. It is stronger than head and shoulders and is available in most chemist. Also use a good conditioner after shampooing as dandruff is a symptom of dry scalp.

Head And Shoulders. I started using it just before I went bald. Certainly cured MY dandruff.

head and shoulders.i think the best are home brand shampoos and conditionaers.other shampoos expensive ones strip your hair and can aggrevate dandruff. i have a little tip for you use vinegar, a small amount of and pour it on hair , leave for a while and wash off dandruff away
