Some people are more educated in theology and scripture than others. Most people have a basic faith and understanding that they apply to the "grey" areas and questions, with varying success.
But not all answers about Christianity are "made up." I am assuming that if you wanted authoritative answers you would be looking at authoritiative texts and doing some research, not asking random people on Yahoo! Answers. You can't exactly cite this as a source on a 6th grade research paper.
Unlike what Teacherwitch said (actually, made up), any Christian or even non Christian can learn theology. Many books are in your local library. If you ever get tired of throwing darts at religious people here, you could check out a book or two there.

You want a "bottom line" answer here? try this:
Mankind uses his own form of "reason" and "logic" but as Jesus says "Your ways and logic are not mine (or my Father's)". That should be one hint.
Here's another: mankind believes strongly that all things can always be experinced with the (5) senses and also somehow organized and arranged into some system -"box" if you will.
Did you ever think perhaps God can't be analyzed esp. if His thoughts and ways are higher than ours?
See, man never left the Tower of Babel (O.T.) - we keep trying to reach God OUR way, through our "intelligence" - we don't listen.
Ask Jesus: Didn't He say "The simple things shall confuse the wise?"
Some sadly do "make it up as they go along" but true Christians don't.
I'm sorry you've seen the "ugly side" of Christianity not the beauty.
May God bless you on your search and let you see the other side firsthand also.
I wish you peace & wisdom!
Shalom!

I make nothing up as I go along. I make sure the bible is in harmony with each and every verse. Just like when Jesus was crucified, hanging there between the two thieves, he told one, verily, verily I say unto you, today you will be with me in paradise. This makes no sense, because Jesus was dead for three days. When he had arose from the dead he told Mary to touch him not for he had not yet accented to his Father. So how could the thief be up in heaven if Jesus himself has not even been there. Maybe the verse should read, verily, verily I say unto you today, you will be with me in paradise. Jesus was just letting the thief know the information that day,as God was letting Adam know that he would die in the DAY he ate of the fruit. So I don't contradict anything. The bible tells us that a DAY to us is a thousand years to God.Why can you not grasp the truth of the bible?

Christians sometimes come up with different answers because some of them are at different levels of understanding and some don't bother to go to God's Word, the Bible.
The definition of a Christian is someone who has repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (a Christ follower). This is what a Christian is. One needs to go to the Bible, them self and learn what God says about certain subjects that they want to know about. Not someones opinion. A Bible concordance is very helpful.

The words are different the message is the same, except for those who agreed. Just like the words are different in the books of the New Testament but the fact that Jesus was sent to us to die for us that whosoever believes and really try to walk in his way, (ot be devils all week because I just have to confess and everything is forgiven, God know the hearts of men so if that is your plan your goose) the message is the same, in all these books, love one another, care for each other, be your brother's keeper, ask and it shall be given to you to understand better. God Bless

If you would research the roots of christianity you will have your answers. God Is not the author of confusion, anytime you have a bunch of debate over something noone has a clue about, that is mass confusion. why take part in that death, it will kill you spiritually, and mentally. this is satan's world, it was given to him for a time when he was cast from the heavens with a host of his angels. some say he brought that book with him, to decieve the nations, and inslave the minds of men. Not only did satan inslave the minds , he also inslaved gods people, Adam, and Eve when they were later cast from the garden of eden. Not all of his angels are gonna burn with him, for some have awaken from the spell of sleep. Racism in it's most evil form is being eradicated from the face of this earth, along with those whom are continuosly insnared by satan's spell of ignorance. good luck on your journey, much love.

because after Christ's ascention, and the death of His apostles, the church became splintered, and became more and more splintered over the next 1800 years or so. Uninspired interpretation and deletions of bible text did not help. Christ's declaration that there would be a 'falling away' prior to his second coming was fulfilled to be sure. The church was restored in 1830 and continues under the direction of living Apostles and Prophets today.

Most of the answers do concur with each other. Some people have a little different spin on it but isn't that life. You can tell the same story to 100 people and they will all get something different out of it.

Just because a person classifys themselves as a "christian" does not necessarily mean that they believe exactly the same thing... that's why there are denominations, because we don't all agree on everything. The reason that people give their answers with 100% certainty is because they believe thier way 100%. This is a good thing... it is better for them to be solid in thier faith than luke warm in the mouth of God.

This surprisingly is a very valid question (I'm very proud of you).
I'm glad you asked. The truth is, Christianity is such a broad category of beliefs, practices, superstitions AND realities that, depending on what church you go to, your personal thoughts and beliefs can vary radically from the next "Christian."
Some "Christians" (people who go to church and practice some form of religion) don't have a clue that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, crucified for the sins of mankind, to restore man to God. There are sects of Religious Christianity that have been around for a very long time, and these sects don't necessarily teach the congregants the scriptural truths contained in the Bible as much as they practice meaningless rituals. So these people consider themselves to be Christians, but are terribly ignorant when it comes to answering questions with any degree of understanding. I want to be careful here, not to be too critical or general concerning these sects, because there are many of them that have reformed in recent years to embrace the Bible and to practice the things taught in scripture. They aren't all bad.
There truly is no correct answer to any question regarding the realm of Christianity apart from what the Holy Bible says. If it ain't in there - we don't know it. And sadly enough, there's a lot in there that we should know and still don't. People have to want to know. "It's the question that drives us, Neo."
A lot of people are just satisfied to know that they are going to heaven. Other's are satisfied to know that their pastor/preist has a handle on things for them. I think that both of these conditions is very sad. There is such a rich wealth of knowledge waiting in the scriptures for anyone that wants to search them. There are so many answers, so much practical, applicable wisdom that people are literally dying for.
That's why, I try to put more Bible than personal opinion in my answers (sometimes I can't resist, however). Because it's better to let the authority of the word of God say it. What I say can be questioned, but the word has been around for thousands of years. It was given to us for the purpose of answering questions, and for establishing faith.
