Dating is a social practice that enables two individuals to discover if they are compatible enough to mate. In nature, dating is when the male shows off for the female. Males with more pleasing colors, better struts, etc win the girl.
With humans, one must win the girl - or guy - by showing that one is close or exactly the ideal that the desired mate is looking for. This is done through getting to know one another and finding out all about personalities, wants, desires, hobbies, etc.
Lately, dating can be anything from just getting to know people and making friends to looking for someone to marry. It can be a path to social acceptance, as in "So-and-so is dating Jim, so she is cool". It can also be one person just looking for physical satisfaction, hence one-night-stands. There are also people who get a kick out of attention. These are called players and will generally use the target person for their own gain and then move on to a new target.

Dating is basically tryouts for marriage. You spend the first 3 months lying to eachtoher about how you are so that you can get the guy/girl. Then the next 3 months telling the truth and finding out how the other person really is and showing them the real you because the lie just got so exhausting. Then after that if you can stand eachother and you love eachother then you get married. That is basically the just of it.

i' 14 and i have had 3 girlfriends. People Date People so that they can experience love and a relationship

Well, that is a question you have to figure out on your own. Why do you want to date? We all want someone to love us and someone to love. I am a Christian and I am married to a wonderful man and it just feels good to have someone to share this life with. God Bless You!!
