I would like to sit AS levels in January 2007. I don't have the time to take evening classes (I work full time) so I'm going to study under my own steam and wish to sit the exam as a private candidate. I'd like to sit the exam in the West Midlands but will go further afield if I can find a school/college that will take me. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be !

Well I live in Nuneaton, Warwickshire
In our colleges (North Wrawickshire and HInckley College and King Edward VI College) I'm sure they will accept you as a private candidate, but I believe you would need to contact their principles and they can give you a more definate answer.

The Telephone Number for King Edwards (Where I am) is: 02476 328231, when prompted press 2 to be transferred to teh receptionist.

Local colleges will let you sit exams as a private candidate along side their students. You have to discuss your exam with the admin ec. at the college, and pay the fee for your paper (it was £11.50 at my college, but that was for a re-sit paper)

Good luck!

Most colleges will let you sign up as a private candidate. When I did AS law there was someone in it who did that, so as long as the college is doing that particular subject you should be ok.
