I don't think that internet "dating" (as in long-distance relationships) is the best of ideas... it's worked for some, but it's been more of a disaster for many others. I've used the internet to set up semi-blind dates and to chat a bit with a guy before meeting in person (at a public place)... it works enough to meet local guys and then see how things go from there in person. Of course, I met my fiance at a bar... hah!
I've found that many people will put their best photo online or will claim to be things that they aren't (such as... MARRIED!) but I'm pretty sure you could find much of the same thing in person.
I'd say use the internet as a tool, not a crutch.

Well its a good way if you use common sence, take every think with a pinch of salt, pics may be old or some one else, never meet in a quite place,or rush into a relation ship, done right has made a lot of people very happy, well with out the internet i would not have got to chat with lots of girls from counties miles from each other, all at the click of a mouse

I have done it many times and I do think it is a good way to meet people. To say it is a success only depends on the individual. I am currently married but I did not meet my husband on the net. However, the men that I had dated prior to my husband were very nice gentlemen, perhaps, I just screened them very well.

Yes, I believe in it. I have dated a few guys online only. I also dated one guy offline that I met online. I just think of it like a blind date. I mean basically all you know of the person before a blind date is what you hear and it is the same way online all you know about them is what you read or what they tell you. Plus online it is better than in person because if you don't like them then you can just block them and you will never have to see them again.

I think it's a fun way to meet people...sometimes cool people, sometimes douchebags...but fun nonetheless. I am currently dating a guy I met on a website called Craig's List, and I think we have been pretty successful thus far. It's just like any other form of meeting people...hit and miss.

well yes i think its workable but then it depends upon individuals and there aspirations... moreover with so much of advent in technology and reduction in time available with people to spend on others internet has come up with a universally compatible and faster and easier solution to stay i touch... before getting onto this page i didnt know the person asking this good question but know atleast i know her... so its workable provided u r comfortable with the now develping system... what say

I met my husband via Yahoo Personals. :) We are now together almost 3 years. It's wonderful to have a mate who is the perfect man. We are soulmates and I never would have met him if it were not for the internet! :o)
