Punch drunk is when a boxer, or someone in a fight, has been hit hard enough or enough times that they have problems with thinking and balance.

The term has evolved to where it can mean a person that has taken so many emotional hits that they cannot think clearly. Like in the movie title, "Punch Drunk Love".

Being punched hard enough to have caused some concussion, resulting in drunken symptoms.
