Try the following : do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.

Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read fitness magazines, like Shape and Fitness for motivation and tips.

Good luck and stick at it.

One of the simplest methods i found not only helps tone your tummy but is good for you back too!

I was advised by a physio when i first had my back problem to try holding my stomach muscles in and stop relying on my back muscles. It took some trying, remembering to breathe is always a good thing, but it became second nature...until i got pregnant and had to relearn to let it out again!

As soon as I had my daughter I started relearning to hold my tummy in again and its now second nature again. I've been eating sensibly but because of my back I'm limited to what exercise I can do however I have lost weight and thanks to my tummy muscles clenching i have a much smaller stomach and i didn't have to spend any excessive amounts on gym memberships!

i asked a similar question about excess skin and i really do think now that it wont go unless you have a tummy tuck. you could have the best six pack in the world but you will always have that loose pile of skin on top. dont mean to burst your bubble im in the same boat and would love to be able to get rid of my baby belly by doing a few sit ups but the more i hear people say it aint gonna happen the more i believe them.
