I sometimes where belly shirts and short skirts on my 3 year old daughter. I think its really cute , because of her fat little belly and chunky legs. I would like to know when other parents have stopped dressing their little cuties in these outfits ? One of my friends stopped when her daughter turned 4. Is that a good age ? We are going to have problems getting clothes that cover her up as she gets older. She has long legs and a long torso. If I buy her larger size clothing , then she looks sloppy and nothing fits right. Her pants will fall down. Thanks everyone.

oh, puleeze, dont you people remember when you were children, running around all summer in bikinis , short shorts, and halter tops. I think this is fine for little kids when it is weather and situation appropriate. I would never take my 3 yr old to the store in it, but if she is playing outside on a warm day I let her wear a bellyshirt. I think that follows regardless of age , when my daughter is a teenager she will not wear those clothes out, but if she is at home on a warm day she can wear belly shirts and short shorts , thats what summer is for.

To each their own but in my opinion I don't think it's a good idea to dress your little girl like that even if it does look really cute. You could be sending her the wrong message about her body. She will start to think it's OK to dress that way and you may never be able to get her to dress any other way... do you want her dressing like that when she is 16? I have a 2 year old boy so I don't have to worry about that now but even if I had a girl I would not dress her in short skirts and belly tops. There are other clothes that they can wear that look really cute and age appropriate.

Fall clothing is going to be what she is wearing soon so I think after the summer season is up--out goes the belly shirts and skirts. Next summer you never know she might fit into clothes that fit her better. I defiantly think at five--at the latest--this has to stop. Best of Luck!

Well no . . Because it feels like I'm a sluut ! And it would make people uncomfortable. EDIT : but i do like wearing just short shorts and a tank top NOT showing my belly. haha (: but it would probably feel like a a bathing suit or something, idk !

With as many pervs as are out there, I would not dress my girls in clothes like that at any age.

Does she wear dresses? My girls like to wear dresses, I generally buy the next size up because otherwise they are too short.

I stopped my daughter in those clothes at 5. However, I didn't let her wear them to daycare at all. She only wore them on the weekends.

Sorry....I think bellies should be covered and little girls shouldn't wear mini-skirts. Children should look like children, not streetwalkers.

5 is probably good, but i'd recommend covering her up more before you go out...start giving her some idea of modesty now
