...or they just shy away?

That really depends on who the guy is talking to.

I mean, just like any conversational topic, it really is more enjoyable to discuss things further when the other person is open minded and will respect your opinions--right or wrong.

It's difficult when the other person is defensive, confrontational and just trying their darndest to have you trying to kowtow to their opinions.

So with these in mind, throw in the fact that relationship discussions are a touchy matter which makes more than most men seem afraid to delve further with someone who may not take their opinions quite so openly.

Speaking for myself, I'm not afraid of relationship discussions per se. What I am afraid of is the "relationship discussion" is going to be a "what's wrong with me discussion". When my wife and I have had discussions about our hopes, desires, fears, plans, etc. they go very well. However, when she goes into what's 'wrong' with me and what I need to fix, I get very defensive instead of being able to sort through what she is thinking.

No, our clock just ticks a lot slower than most females. Thus, there seems to be a different of opinion when a female dates a male the in the same age range.

It's just the way their brains are wired. Don't stress about it. Get the guy involved in something he is naturally good at -- like fixing your car.

I don't think they're "affraid" of it, I just don't think they feel any compelling NEED for it. Back to that, guys heads are wired wrong. :-)
