Not a snowball in hell's chance.
1/ We are in the current position as a direct result of the Industrial Revolution.
2/ The Industrial Revolution was when we began in a BIG way to plunder the earth's resources.
3/ Some countries lagged behind but now China, India and others are jumping on the bandwagon.
4/ Pollution, the cause of global warming, will INCREASE not decrease.
5/ Rain forests are being cleared over HUGE areas which only exacerbates the problem.
6/ The world population is expanding exponentially and crisis point will be reached in a very short (geological) time.
7/ Demand for food, transport and all the luxuries we crave for WILL outstrip supply.
8/ We, and this earth and solar system, are doomed anyway. The sun, as it burns up its sources of energy, will eventually expand and engulf all the known planets in our system.
9/ However, there are those who complain about the money spent on space research. This is the ONLY CHANCE of survival of the human race. It is crucial that the world works together to develop a means of space travel to establish mankind in another planetary system.
10/ Do not have nightmares, you will be long gone before we reach that point!

Sure, there have been a number of good ideas proposed.
Scientists agree that manmade increases to global warming threaten coasts and agriculture worldwide. Potentially huge costs and loss of life. And they don't argue if it's going to happen, they argue when it's going to happen. 25 years or a hundred are rough boundaries of that argument.
But, as you can see by some of the answers here, that science is not accepted by a large group of people. Any solution will cost a lot of money.
So the real question is, by the time manmade global warming is an undeniable reality, will we still have time to reduce its' most serious impacts? Many scientists are gloomy about that one.

Yeah I guess so. its up to us and other people to look into it. And also we could stop it if we knew exactly what we should do to prevent it and to protect the earth.. or whats left to protect. besides everyday doctors and scientists are dicovering new things so b y the time we atually come upon Global Warming...(or maybe already have) we could find a way to pospone it or to stop it altogether. We will go on and we will make it stop. We are getting smarter and we have more technology than ever so we'll find out something to help.

Probably not. Solar activity is more likely the main cause for global warming, or cooling. But we could make things better for us just by increasing the number and extension of forests. We are doing just the opposite!

No. At least some of the warming is not caised by human activity. It is partly a natural warming cycle that has been occuring for about 300 years since "the little ice age" ended.

the earth is a magnificent and wondrous entity in its own right, on several occassions within it existence, it has changed its entire surface geography, its mean temperature fluctuates naturally over milennia, what impact we have on it is miniscule,
the term global warming is a man manipulated frightener to convince the minions to conserve energy, so that those that we call leaders, can keep the great god money happy, specially living a contented life in their pockets,
get it!!
its a con ?

yes we can if we all work together. the eu have made new resolutions, yet america have decided to continue creating most of the pollution in our world. we need international cooperation between everyone. only then do we stand a chance.

Who knows? The mechanisms the planet works on are still largely mysterious. We still don't know human activity has caused it, and if it will reverse itself. The sun's output only need fall a fraction, and we're in another ice age.

It's so imperfectly understood, that the will does not exist to spend fortunes to try something that might not work. Wouldn't it be better to spend the money softening human misery that is here, now?
