I disputed with Equifax and Transunion. Equifax removed it but Transunion didn't. Is true that if 1 bureau removes it from your file so does the other bureaus.

nope, each credit bureau has its own it's own standards, so just because one place removes it does not mean all the other ones will follow.

A public record such as Bankruptcy remains on your report for 10 years. I have one also from 2001 from a business. It is not the end of the world. We have purchased two homes and a vehicle since then and have gotten credit cards. It is frustrating at times, like last w/e we tried to get financing for living room furniture, but you can just look at it as the door for that particular item was closed and it just wasn't meant to happen. Each bureau has different guidelines they go by. Is the BR truly yours or was it a real mistake? I think Transunion should prove how they got that information if you did not file BR. Good Luck and let me know how you did.

Assuming you actually went bankrupt in 2001, it can stay on your credit report for 10 years. Disputing true information does not remove it unless the bureau fails to verify the information. It sounds like Equifax messed up by removing the bankruptcy.

You don't mention if this bankruptcy is yours, or if it's on your records in error.

If it's yours, then consider yourself extremely lucky that two of the CRA's are so imcompetant that they couldn't verify a simple public record. If TransUnion is keeping it on your file, then it will be there until 2011. Bankruptcies are public records, and extremely difficult to get removed from credit reports.

Now, on the other hand, if this BK report is an error, you have grounds to sue TransUnion for posting unvalidated and innacurate information to your credit report. You could easily win $1000 in a lawsuit. But you need to follow a very specific procedure if you want to win such a case. Contact me for advice on this if you need it.

If you disputed it, the only way a bureau won't take it off is if they confirmed it, so maybe equifax couldnt confirm it in time but transunion did. if transunion confirmed it, they should have given you the name of the company or organization they confirmed it with. Then you have to take it up with them, if its not your debt. If it is yours you just gotta wait the seven years.

No. And just becuase one removed it doesn't mean that same one won't put it back on...if it is a legitimate debt, than its likely the company didnt' get back to Equifax within 30 days, so Equifax deleted it--- but if they respond, even after 30 days, it can go right back on there.
